Reminds me of an old-timer I know who says he got busted for drag racing back in the 70s on Broadway in Cheektowaga (yeah, not too smart a block from the police station), but he beat the rap "cuz he cited the actual law for racing that said there must be a beginning and a finish line. Since the 2 cars racing never agreed upon a finish line, he argued, the charge must be dropped. The judge bought it.

Ruff, really...come on. Look how he took a decent Dallas team and ran it into the ground as well as the NY Rangers. Fifteen years with the Sabres and he couldn't win it. He just can't do it...there are others that can do it. How soon people forget the reasons why Ruff was let go. Hopefully, this was just a way of softening the blow if the Sabres hire someone who is not a primo choice for the head coach position. Who would have thought Trotz would have won the cup with the Capitals? Sooner or later the right fit will materialize...hopefully, sooner than later.
