Definitely do not draft anyone named Riley, or Gauthier. And if there is a Riley Gauthier in this years draft class, put him in a rocket and shoot into the sun. |

Dzingel and Panik would be big targets of mine with those hits if they were able to clear out the roster spots.
EDIT:
Looking over these projection, while I'm clearly not great at this stuff, quite a few of them seem very questionable. - Rinosaur
A bunch seem extremely high to me. But I figured I’d just push it along to make conversation. |

I’d love to see Jumbo win a Cup against the Bs. That’s be a great story. - Victoro311
That'd be awesome. Wasn't that the reason they used when he was traded?

I dont mind the Bruins but when Marchand licked the dude, I'm done....Anybody but them....preferably the Blue or CAR but I'm not paying much attention at this point. |

That’s the Marchand thing that gets you? He’s done so many scummy things and the one thing he did that was actually pretty funny is what sends you over the top? |

Something that hasn’t been discussed, and likely for good reason, is if the Pens shipped off Horn or Rust, moving Bjugstad to wing and signing someone like Johannson or Filppula to be the 3C.
I love Bjugstad at 3C, but I’d explore all angles. |

I've created a team with the EvolvingWild contract projections (which seem a tad high on some players) and upgrading the Penguins through FA, a JJ buyout and TWO trades is absolutely doable and this roster is absolutely better than the Penguins roster last year. |

So if a person you didn't like, or at least weren't friendly with, came up to you and licked your face, you'd find it funny? I doubt that. |

Question: what happens if you're on a Western road trip and a defenseman gets injured in the first of a back-to-back? Or what if 2 players are day-to-day simultaneously? |

Buy out JJ if possible.

Well, as long as you don't have 2 players out day-to-day, that would work. - jmatchett383
I don’t believe they are going to target those exact players at those exact cap hits. But the point is, it can be done without having to trade Geno, Kessel, Letang. |

I agree. Just saying that a 21-man roster with $83K in cap space isn't realistic. |

I did that in 15 minutes I’ve over lunch. Ideally I’d find a cheaper trade target for Gudbranson but I was just trying to fit the player under the cap and see what it would look like. I’d rather find a 3rd pairing guy closer to 1.2m but no one came to mind as I was sucking down my beef stew. |

I'm not disagreeing your point. I am just saying that the roster you proposed isn't ideal. |

My other idea was packaging Rust with a 1st and trying to find someone similar to Rust but cheaper and keeping the Pettersson-Guddy pairing together. poop everyone here was all over Rikollas knob, lets just get rid of Guddy and play a Petterson-Rikolla pairing. That’ll save the extra cash. |

Packing a 1st with Rust may allow you to dump his salary all together to a team like AZ, OTT or EDM then go sign Panik or Dzingel. |

Feds mentioned maybe doing Rust+Maatta for Kassian and a 2nd. Then package Guddy and a 1st for whatever. Gives you more cap flexibility for both forwards and d. |

I don't understand why you would need to dump Rusts salary?? He is a solid player, maybe overpaid a tiny bit but why would you ever need to package a first to move him??? If they want to move him, there are plenty of teams that would give up a 2nd or 3rd rounder to get him. |

Is it completely insane to consider moving Horn and JJ to OTT for Ryan
(Plus a few picks) to be 3rd RW? |

I think MoJo would be a terrible 3C. I would prefer him on the wing with Bjugstad staying at 3C. He’ll find a decent contract somewhere but my guess is it’s not in Pitt |

I still don’t get why you think Pominville is a 4th liner, why he’s worth $1MM when he produces at a third line rate, and why Petts is only worth $1MM after he just put up 25 points with a CF of 51.7%. He averaged almost 18 minutes a game in Pitt |

I like your idea of Maata for Kassian straight up much more. I do think that the Oilers would love to get Rust though.
For some reason I'd love to take Puljujavi as a reclamation project. I'd be interested in Rust, Maata and Pens 1st for Kassian, Puljujavi and their 2nd. |
