JVR was awesome down the stretch, he's paid to score goal and that's what he did. If you are expecting a guy that carries the puck through the neutral zone and looks fancy out there you are not gonna be happy. He goes to the net and scores goal, it ain't pretty but it's effective.

This in my opinion is just a changing of tune. We should all be happy with the end result but mid season, there were plenty of comments of fans on this board unhappy with JvR. Some even hoping settle might draft him.

100% agree, put a dynamic guy on their line, we don't need to put a safe play guy out with them. Giroux is going to make plays and put guys in positions to score, it's insulting to put a 10 goal guy on his line.

I feel like a lot of that is because he's making $7M and people are expecting him to play like some dynamic winger that's flashy. He literally sits in front and cleans garbage and tips pucks, and he's damn good at it.

I'm short changing the guy but just trying to say he gets paid to score, and he does.

I wonder if one of Taylor Seguin or Jamie Benn might be available this off season. The Dallas Stars GM was very critical of his stars early this season and now we’re seeing expectation not being made. Blues schooled the Stars last night and one might suggest Dallas has the more impressive line up.

Depends on how deep the rift is between ownership and the players....

I think the cost for either guy would be pretty high. But if they're available you have to at least see what the going rate is. Would love to make it a deal centered around Voracek+ but I can't see them biting at that. Probably gonna want a Sanhiem or Frost.

That was their CEO Jim Lites.

Something on my mind tonight as I watch the Sharks/Aves game.

Vigneault, Therrien and Yeo. There has to be to be a sense of strong ego there among these three coaches. As much as I’ve loved the umbrella approach, it’s worked wonder for us since Laviolette was here. I’m hoping for some real shocking, out of the box approaches next season.

The perfect example is when Laviolette first offered the umbrella PP. Not just the structure but who he choose to be on the first unit. Laviolette put Giroux, Voracek, Simmonds, Hartnell and Timonen on the first unit, while choosing to keep Briere, JvR and Jagr on the bench. This was before Voracek and Simmonds became break out stars. The second unit was iffy even then but it didn’t matter because the first unit was that deadly. Brilliant adjust by Lavy and we’ve been doing the same thing ever since.

Thank you. Even so, I do wonder what Dallas will choose to do. Seguin was fire as always but Benn had a down season by his standards.

Why trade away G’s skill / playmaking when we have a player who plays a similar game to Kopitar in Couts? Seems redundant, especially if Patrick pans out as a strong 2

I’m looking at Ghost’s contract for the next four seasons and his production next to the likes of PK Subban and Erik Karlsson, in a down year for all three. I wouldn’t even entertain moving Ghost. With this said, for those who laugh at the idea of Ghost on the third pair at even strength. That is exactly what I would do, with PP time.

Provorov had a down first half but he’s your number one ice time eater. Gudas had a solid season. Sanheim had made nothing but positive steps forward. Outside of his passing, Hagg remains steady in his own end. Myers is only going to get better. I’m not trading anyone not named MacDonald until we see exactly what Morin can do.

I think Benn had some issues in the summer with his health but I expect he’ll bounce back next season.
