If Zegras falls to 10 I would be jumping for joy, I don't think Newhook is a better option at all, and I am not sold on Lavoie.
- Retinalz

I would jump for joy too. Van will have their soft skilled forward that they don't need and they can trade down.

JB said they already have a lot of soft skilled forwards and wants to surround them with tougher players.

Newhook not a horrible option at 10 if they have to pick.

I just think if a player who they think will fit the clubs needs that's BPA is not available at 10 then they can trade down and pick up someone that fits their needs and be able to pick up another piece for it. I don't see a lot of difference in quality between picks 11-20.

I really don't understand the Dach admiration. He is a lazy F*ck without the puck.

Go draft some bigger kids after him if you want, but you can’t pass up on Zegras’ skill/speed/IQ at 10

He’s likely not going to make it to 10 anyway

- Nucker101

Van can trade soft skill for grit and size

What’s your issue with Newhook? He answered every single (?) I had about him at the U18s. Legit talent & competitor. Cozens was a straight up passenger on that line.

Probably. I’d trade Schenn and Roussel for legit top 6 forwards or legit top 4 dmen in a heartbeat so it must not be too difficult to do the opposite.

Re-sign him for another year. He’s perfect in the physical dman role for a rebuilding team.

Ya he’s a nice 6-7 guy, better than Biega.

I think it’s a bit prejudiced of you to assume that McCann has an attitude “problem” because he’s young and on his third team but Pearson is a good team guy just having a bad year because he’s old and on his third team (in the same season). Remember, Florida traded Reilly Smith plus so Vegas would draft Marchesault instead of whoever they wanted to keep...
- 1970vintage

Thing is we 'know' McCann has an attitude problem it's been fairly common knowledge with Nuck fans and when he was here even the Sedins called him out on it multiple times. Pearson the sample size is too small yet but all signs are pointing in the right direction.

I would love for Pearson to have a decent season next year and get flipped at the TDL

After watching all the Russia u18 games i'm higher on Podkolzin than ever and hope he falls to Van.

My draft list has changed slightly now that I hope

Dach- Podkolzin- Boldy make it to Van.

If it comes down to Cozens- Krebs- Zegras. Trade down.

Before any jumps off a cliff, I like Zegras. He's a talented player that makes a lot of junior moves and has no freakin clue how to play defence. Crazy skilled but has a lot of room for improvement. He's also very soft.

That's probably why quite a few people don't have them in their top 5 and falling to Van at 10

- manvanfan

Podkolzin will be available at 10 for sure. Thankfully the org doesn’t like Russians so I’m not concerned at all

There some big risers from u18, i would think Zegras, Caufield and Newhook all have a shot at going top 10. Broberg will go before 10 IMO. He looked good.

Trade for your tougher ones, or get them in later rounds. Zegras gives us the option to move out a lesser soft skilled guy for something we need. Newhook is not bad option, but compared to Zegras he is a terrible pick with current development. Trading down from Zegras because he is soft and skilled is beyond stupid. The fact is that many of our soft skilled forwards are not good enough.

None, i just prefer Broberg or Soderstrom over him as I feel they are BPA at 10 if the first 9 don't go off the board too much.

I want Spence & Constantinou. If it looks like we can get one or both of them later on I want a F @ 10 & 40.

Newhook >>>>> Broberg & Soderstrom

Skill skill skill.......you dont draft #3 or #4 defensemen at the 10th spot. You get the skill when you can and supplement in later rounds...

I see most of these dmen ranked at around #10 being closer to Woo than Hughes as prospects

Thats how I see it as well. I may even be so bold as to say that Woo might be better than most 1st round D-men this year.....

Not surprising tho as he was projected as a 1st rounder last year before his injury.....

Zegras will probably be a 70 point forward in the NHL for years to come but you will need a team with a totally different make up to support him. It could take a number of years to change that.

Brackett has said they look for players that will fit into their organization.
