Dubas puts an end to Babcock speculation

Frank Seravalli of TSN: There was some speculation about the potential of Mike Babcock joining Ken Holland in Edmonton.

Toronto Maple Leafs GM Kyle Dubas put an end to that yesterday.


“We’re all in on Mike and Mike is all in on us,” Dubas told TSN’s Bob McKenzie. “We’ve had productive management meetings as an organization and Mike and I have had some really good meetings as well since the season ended. It’s our very strong belief that Mike is the one to lead us.

He should’ve, yes, but the organization pushed him into the lineup. It’s an age old story, unfortunately, for this franchise, not properly scouting, drafting and developing players.

I think Willie's recent LA adventures have set his future as 'associate coach' and nothing more. Unless of course someone decides they need an experienced tank commander.

Why would a manager care? I’d love that he was full of fire as long as he accepted it and put in the work to get better.

McCann has went on record while he was in Florida saying that his maturity level wasn’t where it should have been. Which isn’t all that uncommon for an 18 year old, but we in a Canadian market will make the biggest mountain out of the smallest molehill.

Kid seems to be happy and playing really well in Pittsburgh. Hopefully Pearson turns out to be a good find by Benning. Water under the bridge.

I think it’s a bit prejudiced of you to assume that McCann has an attitude “problem” because he’s young and on his third team but Pearson is a good team guy just having a bad year because he’s old and on his third team (in the same season). Remember, Florida traded Reilly Smith plus so Vegas would draft Marchesault instead of whoever they wanted to keep...

Frank Seravalli of TSN: Edmonton Oilers GM Ken Holland will likely be looking for a veteran coach and could look at Dave Tippett and Todd Nelson.

I found that to be quite funny considering he coached them for 40 games back in 14-15.

I'd probably go for someone like Dan Bylsma or Todd Richards
