I don't think you understand what I'm saying. You have it backwards. We'd be getting 7oa AND Callahan, and giving up Risto
- jcragcrumple

Not the same.
About $19m difference in contract commitment.
Cally is done after 1 season, Okposo the Chinaman has 4 /5years left.

You proposal was for Detroit to deal off a 2C and take on $24M in debt for essentially the same projected value as the player you are giving up....why would anyone do that...add risk, constrain cap space and lose a roster spot.

The same fans chanting “CBJ’s” will be the same ones not buying tickets when the team becomes irrelevant again. Luckily enough for them they have Werenski, Jones, Atkinson, Dubois, Andersen and some pieces that will remain. Foligno and Dubinsky aren’t getting any younger though.
- Pegullaville

You say they will become irrelevant and then listed the exact reasons they wont become irrelevant.

Also what do their fans have to do with it? I think there fans seem solid. Winning fills the seats, ask the keybank center this season

Money means nothing to the Sabres Owners.
Apparently it is all about the fun learning on the job.

From now on, the soul purpose of the Sabres is to provide fun for our family.

And I agree it's not enough value, but you're misrepresenting the proposal by saying:

Would you trade 7-OA for Ryan Callahan?

That's not an accurate representation of the baseline of the trade proposal. Anyway, agree to disagree, but I think Sabres fans covet 7OA way too much

The consensus of this board seems to be that 7oa is too valuable to trade, but when the topic of trading it comes up, most people say that the team accepting 7oa would be crazy to accept that low of a payment for whatever trade is proposed.

So it seems like Sabres fans overvalue making the pick at 7, while undervaluing the pick's value on the trade market. Both of these things can't be true.

Either 7 is worth a lot, or it isn't

- jcragcrumple

Thx brother,

My thoughts exactly, I'm open to a team looking to the future sending us a 26yr old cost controlled top line winger, or Very Dependable 2C , That is where I place this value, our past two picks in this 7-10 range include, Casey Middlstadt & Nylander
Even with Casey's underwhelming year, he is a legit top 6 forward around the league with major upside as he's natoriously not a gym rat I see him growing into his frame with yearly growth even more significantly than Samson's yr by yr improvement. The constant hate on Samson even after the "other" Sam Bennett was clearly NOT the right choice. Samson is mature, high on-ice IQ, Consistent

78gms 42pts
78gms 47pts +5pts
82gms 50pts +3pts
82gms 65pts +15pts

Samson should be a Sabre for life

Sorry, got sidetracked lol 420 will do that lmao

Casey will improve over the next 4 yrs

That same core with a top 5 winger in the league in Panarin, a vezina goalie in Bob, atop 6 centre in Duchene and a middle 6 winger in Dzingel didn't get past the second round. Foligno and Dubinsky arent getting younger. The CBJ's won't be terrible but unless they can find a way to resign some of these guys where is the help going to come from ? They have no prospects or picks either.

And you are not accurately considering the negative value of a $6m x 4/5 contract commitment for a near useless player.

If you drop that aspect and focus on AA vs 7-OA then I think you have the value for each.
But complicating the trade with a killer contract, and then saying fans and GM are incorrect in their valuation if 7-OA is absurd.

But, anyway, I'm going to bed, have to get up early.

First half of the year I recall a few games where you could feel the difference in attitude inside the building.

One game in particular on thanksgiving eve against the flyers. That building was rockin and the fans feeling feelings they havent felt in quite some time. I caught some of those same feels sitting in front of the TV

All at the height of their run this year. Its time to make moves to win

High risk gambler.

What if Bread, Bob, Dutchy, Zing all walk out the door.
They have close to Zero draft picks to restock the pipeline this year, and have sold off their 2nd rounders in the next 2 drafts.
They will have $27+m in Cap to spend on old, over-priced FA's though.

High-wire act.

- IonSabres

Panarin and Bobrovsky are 100% gone. Everyone knows it. Everyone. Duchene won't get a better offer from anyone else other than Columbus at this point.

2/3 are 100% gone and the 3rd one is 50/50.

They did the right thing this year.

Bobvrosky had a .913 this year. Hardly vezina.

Doubtful they let all 4 walk free, and if it comes to that will make other moves in FA. Their core is young and they have a handful of players you didnt mention that are part of their success as well.

They have a good coach.

I guess since they arent a cup favorite though that they should just blow it up and start thinking about the 22-23 season

All nhl fans buy less tickets when their team is irrelevant.

Cbj is no different.

What I didnt like, was that the fans stood all game. Kinda unfair to kids and older fans. Hope that trend ends in a city that hasnt had playoff success

Eventually it becomes time to poop or get off the pot. I applaud them for going for it and the only thing preventing them from moving on is Rask playing out of his mind.

I fully expect nhldops to do nothing about that mcavoy hit. I also expect about 10 million butt hurt leaves fans to female dog about it.

He had an awesome year at Michigan as well after we drafted him and from that moment it was evident that the guy could be a 3C at the NHL level yet we included him the deal for some reason.
