Buch, Lemiux, AD, should come in around 2 mill each? + Claeson and Pionk?
If the first three I mentioned are signed, $$$ comes down to more like 14/15 mill. Thats not all that much to spend on Panarin and a few other small pieces if any current roster players aren't traded. It's really not all that much - rrentz
Yeah exactly. They need to trade Pionk, Vesey and Namestinkov. |

Agreed here. Pionk would be a good 7th dman but he’ll want too much $$$ |

If they sign Pionk then that means they would have...
Shattenkirk
DeAngelo
Pionk
Fox
Smith
Staal
Skjei
Hajek
Lindgren
All trying to earn a spot. It's a good problem to have but still a problem. |

Claeson and Pionk? Pionk has arbitration rights, so he's probably gone, and Claeson played well, but is he really worth signing and jamming up an already jammed up back end?

one of the reasons why I am not 100% convinced they are gonna target a big ticket defenseman via trade or free agency

anybody who is upset about what we gave up for Fox is nuts
hopefully Dallas takes care of business because if we are drafting 2nd, 19th and 28th, complaining about not also having #37 is a little greedy - jimbro83
Funniest thing here is I think we all expected additional 1st rounder to come from Tampa!
The only downside I see in trading for Fox is we gave up our own picks in the deal. I know how rare offer sheets are, but that deal basically rules out even the POSSIBILITY of us giving an offer sheet to anybody... |

I read some one speculate that the Rangers could throw an offer sheet around where a 3rd rounder was compensation and just declare the pick to Carolina be a 2nd instead of waiting to see if Fox plays 30
Good news is that Dallas loves I mean loves Zuccarello, chances are real strong they re-sign him and will happily eat the first rounder, just for the chemistry he brings as much as anything else
that team was pretty miserable most of the year, the owner called out Seguin and Benn. Zucc has changed everything there. One little Norweigian. |

If you remember, I was advocating using an offer sheet to get Kapanen for the 2nd round compensation. 4 X 4 approx. $16 million. Being creative and make first year pay him say $7 million would be VERY difficult for Toronto to match . Now that option is gone.
If will admit, I stated after the Zucc trade I thought the return was a bit underwhelming. The mere possibility that we can get one or even two first round picks from that deal is crazy! Gorton has done a FANTASTIC job here and has far exceeded even wild expectations. He has earned my respect and trust as a fan and I can't wait to see what he does as we head into summer! |

I think if Kapanen is out there looking for an offer sheet to sign, it's going to have to come in higher than that
I wouldnt be surprised if it came in at 5 years 30 mil or something like that |

I know, I thought it was hysterical.
I'm doing it... DH Gate has a customized Hurricanes 3rd jersey for $33. I'm going to get "JERK" put on it! - TheMessiah94

Do you see any #1’s there though? I think ADA is a 3/4, Skjei is a 3/4, to early on Hajek/Lindgren. Staal is a 5/6 at this point in his career as well as Smith and Shattenkirk is a 10/11. |

If we sign Panarin and trade for Trouba I would say we could make a serious run as soon as next year.
Panarin Zib Kravtsov
Kreider Chytil Buch
Kakko Howden Strome
Smith Boo Lemeuix
Hajek Trouba
Staal ADA
Lindgren Fox
Skjei as part of a deal for Trouba |

good one
I feel like they should wait another year before committing to another outside guy for the blueline (whether via trade or UFA) to a long term deal
let another season of Staal/Shatty/Smith go by, then there will be only one year left for each on their awful contracts, and at the same time get much more playing time for all these young guys

Larry Brooks:
The trade for Adam Fox that includes an encumbered 2020 second-rounder (a third will become a second if the Harvard product plays 30 NHL games this season) takes the Rangers out of the offer-sheet game for any compensation that includes a No. 2 for 2020.
In other words, no Mitch Marner or Brayden Point on Broadway … unless you’re sacrificing four first-rounders.
Which potential new president John Davidson is not |

Of course those two would cost the max anyway. You could always trade for their rights though.
Look on the bright side today guys, today we lock up the third 1st. I can feel it

It would take just as much to trade for their rights as it would to sign them. |

I’m not going to argue with that, just throwing it out there. We can’t offer sheet Chiefs boy LeBanc, but we can give Dallas 2nd instead in a trade. |
