So Loui Eriksson called out his coach apparently looking for a trade. Poison pill question... would you do a JJ for Eriksson trade?
3 years at $6m on a player who was once a major offensive talent vs 4 years at 3.25 of a guy who should be buried in the minors.
I think if you could get Van to eat 1-1.5m it would be worth a shot. Or maybe they should just avoid what would look like a poop for poop trade. - MacPatty
Loui Eriksson
Bobby Ryan
James Neal
All guys we could trade our bad contracts in order to grab one. For any of these guys we’d have to include Johnson and maybe Hörnqvist. |

Interesting. He’s getting moved. Some say Arizona is a place he’d wave his NTC to.
Would Chychrun, Dvorak and Crouse be good names to go after? - Barnaby36
Phil is the ultimate “final piece” player. Colorado makes perfect sense. Zadorov fits JR’s love of toughness and pushback, along with not being very good.
In regards to your question, Dvorak makes too much for too long and Crouse just isn’t good. Chychrun would be a good starting point. |

Kessel made some less than cryptic comments after the season. He knows he's getting moved. I've read that Zona has no interest in Phil. |

I think Hornqvist can bounce back.....JMO. I'd buyout JJ. Wouldn't want to touch any of those players. |

to me, the bad decisions go a bit higher. Rutherford didnt give himself a 3 year extension (not kicking in until July 1st). It was ownership who have given JR 3 contracts for a guy who was to be here for 2 years. in the process they lost boterill and randy sexton.

I'd like a deal with both Chuchryn and Crouse. I think Crouse has serious upside. Would love to see him slide in with Jake and Sid. |

As a Yotes fan I say yes, as a Pens fan I say no. I know you’re a Crouse fan - I think that’s a fine tradeoff. I’m fine moving Chychrun too. I don’t think they move Dvorak, at least not yet. He has chemistry with Keller and I think they’ll want to see a full season from him.
The problem (for me) linking Phil to AZ is that he’ll be 32 to start the next season and the cost to acquire probably won’t be all that low. I think the odds of Hornqvist coming to the desert are greater because the cost to acquire would be severely less and according to some may be zero. Arizona is still such a young team and some of the guys are unknowns. I don’t think they’re looking for that missing piece just yet.
Personally, I’m not sold on Keller. I would do Keller and Chychrun for Kessel, but others would not. Teams targeting Phil I would say are Nashville, SJ (if they lose Karlsson and trade someone for a defender or bring back someone in the same trade), and then AZ would bring him in for the right price |

To elaborate: I don’t think Keller is going to be a regular 70 point guy, especially not with Tocchet. The team was also much better with Chychrun being scratched down the stretch. He has tons of potential and hopefully bounces back and doesn’t fizzle out. I would like to move out players that don’t fit their identity for players that do - I don’t think Kessel is that guy though. Hornqvist seems like a Tocchet guy |

At the end of the day, Kessel scores goals and gets points. That is worth something in today's NHL. Someone will pay the price for him. Question is what is GMJR looking for and how stubborn will he be. |

You’re missing the point: Tocchet and Kessel really like each other and it’s the only reason he’d waive his NTC and go to Arizona. |

JR will probably want a 50 point guy that provides whatever the (frank) he means by “push back” and the old proverbial heart and soul. On top of that he’ll probably want the next Jared McCann aka a young guy who’s been doghoused that he believes is a cant miss guy with untapped potential, and a high-ish pick, probably a second rounder. At the end of the day, this trade will make us worse, the question becomes how much worse depending on how much we get out of that second unknown commodity. |

If that’s the case a Keller/Chychrun for Kessel would be just what the doctor ordered (alongside trading JJ in this deal) for the Pens...but I doubt Keller is traded. |

Agreed. Chayka is likely very high ok both players. Chayka has a history of going for young players, I think he continues that. He would likely go after Kessel with Connauton, Crouse, futures. IMO Chayka gets some lower end stop gap like Hornqvist for cheap while other players continue to develop. My opinion on what the Pens do? I have no idea. To your comment on the Tocchet-Kessel connection, I don’t know how far that’ll go with Chayka. We’ll see what happens, I’m looking forward to it all unfolding |

If he stays then where you put him? With Sid and Jake? I wouldn’t be wildly opposed to trying it again but if we could get any sort of decent value for 72 from another team I’m all for it |

1st things first.... Kessel is gone. Book it. Right wing will be pretty thin when that happens. I'm assuming they'll have to go UFA shopping.
Secondly, I've felt he belonged on Sid's line, but obviously, Crosby doesn't feel the same way. So he'd probably be on Geno's line after Kessel gets dealt.
I'm a believer in his brand of hockey. I think it's essential to have willing players working in the crease. Other than the 10 games or so following his concussion, I thought he looked pretty much like the same player. I'm not saying they shouldn't consider dealing him if they can get good value, but I personally don't think he's washed up. |

The Pens made Tom Kuhnhackl look like a stud. So yes, we were really fvcking pathetic. Like I said earlier... Worst team to make the playoffs. |

I don’t think Sid likes his game at all lol. To me, I would like to see 72 skate the puck in more often. So often he skates up the ice so close to the boards and it never looks like he’s even going to attempt to cut in. It’s almost like just getting it deep is his first option. I’m ok with him playing with Geno. I was also ok with keeping Phil but not if he’s a cancer to his team. Idk if he is or not but DK sure painted him that way. I think Kessel to Nashville makes sense. Excited to see how it all pans out |

Media people besides, for whatever reason, Mackey hate Phil because he doesn’t like them. I’d take any reports of Kessel being a locker room cancer with a massive grain of salt. I buy that he can be uncooperative with the coaching staff, but that doesn’t mean his teammates hate him. |

Horny is almost robotic in his actions. He’s never gonna carry it in unless he’s undefended. He thinks dump in before he even gets the puck.
He does ad strength to the in front/cycle game, but if he wins a puck it’s anyones guess as to what happens next. That’s what I hate about him on the PP.

I think his teammates like him fine. Coaching staff could be a different story. |
