Well I personally am willing to give Don Cherry a break.

If and when I get to be his age, I too will have earned the right to not give a crap about what other people think about my expressed thoughts, political correctness, and all that stuff.

- 67hawks

When you get, his age, do you also earn the right to make up facts, make incorrect statements based on birthright, ethnicity and politics?

Works for some when they reach an advanced age.

Let me guess, if Cherry says something you don't like or agree with it's automatically a lie?

Is Don Cherry not allowed to have opinions?

If you don't like Don Cherry then don't watch his segments ..

I personally think Don Cherry is hilarious.

I could see Forsberg splitting the scene, his treatment at the beginning of last season was absurd .He is or was are best goalie prospect . I don't have a lot faith in Delia
- oldduffman

What do you mean his treatment? lol, was he entitled to a starting job or something?

Also calling Forsberg at this point a "prospect" is a reach - and IMO, Delia has far more upside..

I mean Forsberg is at the point in his career where he exceeds or doesn't, so this will be a make or break year for him.....

Can he not see the irony of someone who dresses like he does saying that others look like a bunch of jerks?
- Ogilthorpe2

That's why Cherry is hilarious... Do you really think he's not aware of his irony?

Those that are incapable of seeing the humor in Cherry's act are hilarious as well because the joke is really on them. They accuse Cherry of all these things, yet they're the ones actually taking Cherry seriously...

Besides, what is your intent with bringing him up anyway?.. Do you really think bashing him is virtuous?

EK is usually the kiss of death .I have heard Ceci name before with the HAWKS . Blocks shots hits could be a nice target .Perlini and a 4th .
- oldduffman

Trading Perlini would be a major mistake.... The kid oozes talent and potential, and if he can get it together and have some consistency in his game he could really be a force.. When he's in his "zone" he's pretty damn good..

I wouldn't trade him just to do it... IMO I think he's going to have a huge season - 25+ goals.. He's certainly going to compete with Saad for top 6 ice time - and that's a good thing... Perlini is what? 22-years-old?.. Give the kid a chance, 22 is nothing.. Guys who play his style don't hit their prime until their mid 20's... At the very least his NHL potential is a very solid bottom 6 power forward that can score 10-20 goals a season.. At the same time Perlini could pan out to be a top 6 power forward that's good for 20-30 goals, perhaps more a season...

Maybe, and so what?

Yea, I'm the "type of person" that has a sense of humor and can laugh at stuff that I don't necessarily agree with.. I'm the type of person that isn't offended by a profoundly ironic old man that dresses like a pimp and says edgy stuff...

I mean I don't get it.... Are the Don Cherry haters really trying to say or imply - without actually saying it - that Don Cherry shouldn't have a platform to entertain his fans?... If that's the case that's a selfish and authoritarian position to hold. Sorry but this world doesn't revolve around the easily offended - and demanding that it does or should is unreasonable .. If someone doesn't like Cherry or "Coaches Corner" then don't watch it... People do indeed find him amusing, I find the guy hilarious and edgy, and if he didn't have fans then he wouldn't be on TV...

Forsling fortin and 4th for ceci might be better because like to keep Perlini and see if he can get game to be more consistent and engaged more. Don't want give up 6 3 200 + with size speed and skill.

It would be great if Perlini pans out and becomes a cheaper version of Saad. But he's got a ways to go. Hope the light bulb turns on and he puts forth greater consistent effort.

Hawks will need the cap space in 20/21 and it would be nice to replace Saad's 6M with Perlini's 1.25M or so. Possibly obtain a top 4 D for Brendan before he becomes an UFA?

After reading a section on an Ottawa fan base blog re Ceci's value to the team and his current cap hit plus what his new contract will look like, my head screamed "stay away". Unless we want a new whipping boy for next year. Also for a big body he is too soft and we do not need more of that on our back end.

A hater? Isn't that a term kids use in grade school?

I didn't say or imply Cherry should or should not have a platform, I said he makes incoherent, conflicting, contradictory comments and sometimes contradicts what he just said. Not sure if you are entertained by a rambling old man who can't complete a coherent sentence or maybe you're able to understand what's he's unable to say? Cherry may be unintentionally funny but he's not trying to be.

You know it's going to be a long offseason on hockey message boards when it's only early May and you're arguing about Don Cherry.

No, I don’t. That would take more intelligence and awareness than he’s ever demonstrated that he possesses.

Virtuous? LOL.

FOrsling, FOrtin, and a FOuth round pick. I would like to call this the F.O. Ottawa trade.

No he was not entitled to a starting job ,he more then earned a shot at it in Camp last year . Not even giving him a sniff when Ward was sporting a .856 sv% was not fair to the kid or team . Forsberg is at the point to either succeed or not and should ,have been given that chance last when his contract was coming to a end .
Delia has a lot of work to do.

Perlini is a good prospect ,but getting a 6.2 200lb top 4 defenseman for him and a 4th would be a steal .
Looking at the contract though Ceici may be a little to expensive at this time .

FWIW...

Eklund has an “E3” on the Hawks being interested in Cody Ceci.

- Chief4Feathers

Yeah I saw that. He's also has the Rangers in as well. Let the bidding begin. I know ek has it up on the board so it probably won't happen.

This is just a hypothetical and way out of left field and for discussion sake.
Hawks TRADE the 3rd overall pick Perlini gust and 5th to Vegas for their 1st and 3rd Cody glass cody eakin mcnabb and tuch. Eakin salary dump hawks get 3rd line center top 6 pfw top 4 d man and center prospect vegas gets out of cap hell and gets a future stud player while the hawks assets for win now and for the future plus if the goalie knight drops to slot where vegas would be picking. Its a maybe but could happen. Thoughts? Doubt vegas doesn't but makes some sense on the hawks side IMO.
