Please explain how you reconcile the 2 bolded parts. - jmatchett383
A fair comment: I don’t like Simmonds game anymore than I do 72s but Simmonds is looking for JVR money and Horny is signed at 5.3 and he’s a 2-time cup winner. I would take Horny at 5.3 over Simmonds at 6.5-7, which he obviously shouldn’t get.
I like Granlund. I think he bounces back. Idk if Hornqvist does but I believe he can and my opinion is other GMs will feel the same. I think vRask improves but he’s not going to produce like he did before (sorry in advance to my friends from Sweden). Guentzel did not have a good postseason but I think he’s fine next year.
One more guy who comes to mind: Orpik. We were fine to see him go and none of us thought he was going to get paid like he did. That guy has absolutely changed his game. He’s miles better with the puck now than he was as a Penguin |

I was just having fun with this lineup. I know none of this is realistic and Feds will have a good laugh at one of the moves. - Rinosaur
What, and I can't stress this enough, the (frank) is Dan Girardi doing on this team? Are you just running off the assumption that JR will do something idiotic even in the dream scenario?
Anyways, I like the Hornqvist-Keith swap. |

I dont have the time to follow the rest of the league any more so I can't comment on who else it would be specifically. Isn't Duchene best bros with Crosby anyway? They can make it happen. - sammy87
So you're just assuming that there's a team out there that has those pieces available, can handle the cap hit, and is in a position where Malkin fits their game plan more than the other pieces? |

Well, I wanted to find a Righty for the third pair and for the money he's probably one of the better options unless we chance it with Prow, but also yes, I don't expect all perfect moves to be made, but given the impact Keith would have it would allow Sullivan to shelter the 3rd pairing more. |

But like I said; based on his past year+ (one was injury plagued), I don't think Simmonds will get what he would have 2 years ago. I think the market will be down on him, and he'll sign for less money/term than Horny. |

Just because I have an opinion on something one time doesn’t make it a one size fits all for my entire life. I think murderers should be punished. I also think that there are exceptions for people in the armed forces and people who are defending themselves/others
I believe in some form of higher being but I’m also proChoice. Those two don’t usually go hand in hand. The idea of women not being allowed to abort their rape babies I think is unfortunate. I think it’s a tough call but one they should be allowed to make
I think Nieds for Rask was a tough call, clearly it was one MN felt they had to make |

Yes you can't assume people are done after one down season, but you can definitely make safe assumptions based on several factors such as age, injury history, and skill set/style of play and how said skill set/style of play is affected by losing a physical step or two due to the aging curve. The outlook is not good for either Hornqvist or Simmonds. - Victoro311
Yup. I feel you’ve defended your opinion more than adequately and its a very fair opinion. He may never bounce back. I don’t know. My point though has always been this - it’s about what other GMs think and of the other 30 out there I think some of them still like his game. Do you disagree or do you feel they all 100% think he has 0 or negative value as someone here stated |

Eh, Caps have no room really. Hags stays if he signs dirt cheap or the Caps move out Burakovsky or something. |

I think the average GM is not very good and there are about 3 GMs in the league that are legitimately good at their job and can be trusted to execute a sound long term plan. I think Jim Rutherford is the very embodiment of the average NHL GM and we all know how much he values certain bad players and how willing he is to tie himself to questionable contracts. So I think it's definitely possible that if we shop Hornqvist someone will bite and even give us something of value. But given all the red flags it's also possible that even the dumb GMs of this league will smell the smoke and avoid the fire. |

I personally hope not. But he will have to not be qualified, and then would have to sign less than what he's making now. Tough situation. |
