Should Stan decide to trade down, this is a guy to watch for

What about getting TVR back from Canes? Good/bad? If so what would it take?
- RaleighHawk

we are loaded with bottom pairing D from the RD. I would say no. that is just me.

My thoughts on the draft are.
1) Bowen has the highest floor of anybody we could pick. Pods its hard to say and he will not come over for 2 years, Kane and Toews are 2 years older. makes no sense unless he is generational and I do see that.
2) all the other Centers have some good things and some OK things. Dach has size but is a touch slow, Zeg is pass happy, Cozens at times is not aggressive, Turcotte shows speed but he is a bit undersized for how he plays. the further point is cauflied looked better then all of them are we taking a 5-7 player at #3?

Bowen will get a lot of looks in the finals starting Fri and hopoelfully the Mem cup.

He is no better than 6 on an admittedly very good defense. With the Hawks defense as it currently stands he is still no better than 5, Joki, Murphy, Gus and Keith are ahead of him, probably Dahlstrom is his equal. I will place him above the diminished Seabrook but not by much.
- LAHawk

Have you seen Dahlstrom play? He and Murphy were one of the worst pairs in the NHL.

Seabrook is better than Dahlstrom and Murphy. And hes much better than Gus defensively.

TVR would be a sold #5, but not sure hes coming back

@all

Think Marcus Kruger gets re-signed to a team-friendly (fully bury-able) 1-2 year deal?

- Slofire94

No. He's earmarked for Florida Panthers. I hear their new coach likes what he brings.

Would we trade Seabrook (2M retained) and a 2020 2nd (or B level prospect) for PK Subban?

Why Nashville would do it: cap space to go after Matt Duchene

Why Hawks do it: Hawks get rid of Seabrooks contract and get flexibility earlier (Subban has 3 years left at 9M)

That is quite hyperbole that they were one of the worst pairs in the NHL, I know it is an old time (non-fancy) stat, but Dahlstrom was +9, and Murphy was +12 on the year, and were often times used as the shutdown pair, so although I will agree they leave a lot to be desired, to call them one of the worst pair in the NHL I think is a bit much.

That would be 11M AAV for the next 3 years. It would be really hard, maybe impossible, to resign ADB and Strome.

Plus, no one is giving up anything useful for Seabrook.

That would be almost double the cap hit for one player who might, at this point be twice as good, but is nowhere near good enough to take up twice the cap hit.

How about that 35 year old Cane goalie that I’ve never heard of before. There’s a topic for you or the Blues goalie Binnington, I had know idea he was a total head case!

Just my opinion but if asked to waive his NTC, Seabrook would veto a trade to Nashville in a hot second.

Generally, for better or worse, I feel both Seabrook and Keith retire as Blackhawks.

Promised enough Stoli and a Dacha in Wisconsin Dells, this can be remedied.

1. When?
2. This will still be a problem, as we have to be cap compliant on day 1.
3. Do we go the Hossa route, and trade him? If so, what will that cost?

I am sure with all the miles on the body that there is some sort of injury that he could go on LTIR if he so wished without having someone else cause a debilitating injury.

I believe the post is implying they would fine away to ltir him till the end of his contract effectively retiring while he gets paid.

We know Rocky is not cheap like dollar bill, but how generous can he afford to be? 6.85 X 6 is a ton of cash for zero value in return.

Seabrook is a Hawk hero who should be treated with respect.

Also, the league verifies injuries with independent doctors. The idea that they can just stash him on LTIR without a legit injury in order to avoid his cap hit is silly talk, even for this august community.

No. We would be paying his $9mil plus $2mil of Seabs (total $11mil) If we trade for a top 4 defender it should be one that actually plays defense, makes good decisions, and is highly disciplined. Subban is not the guy.

People wrote off Toews for the last 2 years. I am not saying Seabs will return to 2015 form, but he is only 34. There is no reason that he cannot rebound somewhat, playing less minutes, playing the PK. Like Toews we do not know if it is desire, concussion issues, chronic injuries, diet, training, etc... that caused the drop off in his play. It could be his multiple, often horrible D partners the last couple of years and no longer having Keith). But we said that about Toews without Hossa too.

please Lord I hope there is one compliance buyout next CBA. I did not realize the current CBA has opt outs this sept 1st for owners and sept 19th for the NHLPA. I think the only real issue the players have is escrow. If they opt out in 2019 then the CBA expires in sept 2020. Seattle EXP draft is in 25 months. really hope we can get him off the books. this contract makes Bickell's look like a genius. Or they agree to a extension and include a few thins like a buyout.
