Clearly in Byram you don't seem to see Seth Jones or Morgan Rielly type potential. If that's the case I take a pivot with a big wing span and skating, scoring and distributing capabilities. - RickJ
Or the Hawks could go with the best goal scorer in the draft - Cole Caufield. |

She’s good at hockey, sucks at broadcasting. Really bad. Awful. - Ogilthorpe2
A little inflection with her voice would help - flat, monotone delivery. She’ll probably get better as she has more time to work. Patrick Sharp was even worse on camera when he first started - but he’s improved a great deal. |

At least she isn't a screecher like the other female announcer. Bottom line is that I haven't learned a single thing from either one of them.

Now he’s looking like a fool?
Pretty sure that ship sailed decades ago. - Ogilthorpe2
Hey Ogi Cherry has always been a fool with his over the top act. Cherry's comment about the Canes celebrating and calling them jerks is what I was referring to. Cherry with his bone head comment about the Canes has motivated this team to prove everyone wrong and shove it up Cherry's a$$. |

Huh? - BGKarras
My first comment was because we went most of the night (and several nights before) here rehashing an event that won’t happen for more than 7 weeks - but no posts about the great games that have been going on for three weeks. It seemed like if the Hawks weren’t involved, hockey didn’t exist.
My second was about how I’m not sure the Canes are THE story of the tournament. Columbus is just a good a story, Colorado out west (we’ll see if they can come back against SJ), Dallas tying up St. Louis.
THE story is - like it or not (and I don’t like all of it) - the hard cap seems to have led to an upside-down league - it is very possible that all 4 Wild Card teams will make the conference finals.
But - the series have been mostly close and exciting - the games certainly have.
Too much draft talk - not enough “game day”.
Just my opinion.... |

Have to agree with you. Not painful to listen to, just dull. Maybe she gets better. Maybe she was being extra reserved because it was Pierre. Tessa Bonhomme does a great job but we don't get to see or hear her much in the states. |

Makes sense all around. Minus the explanation, it kinda came across as anti-Cane, which didn't make much sense on its face. Like you, I think the early playoff rounds have been terrific and a pleasure to watch.

After seeing Wiz's list of defenceman taken with top 5 picks in the draft I'm more convinced then ever to draft a forward . Coz or Pods from what I read is what I want the Hawks to do with their pick.

She's new at it and I'm sure there's an intimidation factor working with all very experienced males. If she's going to be a good commentator she'll need some time to get the experience and confidence. Another Bettman idea to reach out to new fans.
In Canada the on CBC Cassie Campbell has been a commentator for a couple of years, she was weak when she started but is getting better. Also they broadcast some games in Punjabi, no idea what they're saying but it's both exciting and funny to listen to. Exciting because of how much enthusiam they show and funny because they make it sound like a soccer game and they add in all kinds of English words like offside, puck, icing, bodycheck etc. to their language. |

Hey Paul, with my ch-ca-guh accent I'm not making fun of how anyone else talks. But with a few pops in me the foreign languages do sound entertaining.
As far as women commentating I am wide open to it. That stems for my respect from having been involved in coaching U-18 AAA girls. They paid more attention to what I was saying and gave a more honest effort than boys at any level.

Gotcha... That is what I thought you meant. I agree with you that it's been a year of upsets and eye opening surprises. Teams that were considered an afterthought are making the most noise in the playoffs. Great series all around the league which is a good thing in a way. But those Jerks in Carolina to me are the biggest surprise so far. What do I know I had Tampa winning it all man I was wrong. At least the games are very entertaining. The way these playoffs have gone imagine if the Hawks made it to the dance. They could have done some damage anything is possible this year. |

The lack of playoff talk is on me. I've included a little bit but will add in a more non-Blackhawks / Playoff dedicated blog.
There have been some amazing series' and it's been a wacky postseason.
Expect one coming up!

Can you also touch on why the ever omnipotent Mr. Marchand seems to get away with insidious & nefarious shots. |

I know you didn’t formally apologize and one isn’t necessary. Sage is slightly guilty of perpetrating one of his own mantras. Don’t like the subject matter being discussed? Change it and see if your post generates anything.
It’s part of the vibe that made this place fun before and has again, so cheers!
Don’t know if you’re an Athletic subscriber but they give a cursory glance to who will likely be available at the 3 slot and as has been discussed here, there are many players that merit a look there. Just went up this morning. |

Why? He is nothing more than a #6 on the Canes, we have plenty of this class already. |

Stan should draft the best player available, and deal from strength via trade. That’s how business works. Simple.
If Brynam is that good, Stan could also move down in the draft for someone that wants him. The gap between Podz, Turcotte, Dach, and Cozens seems nominal enough to justify moving the third pick for an overpay if any of those guys are available.

He is a 5 or 6 on a team that is stacked on D. He could be a 4 or a solid 5 with the Hawks, of which they have neither now. |

Think Marcus Kruger gets re-signed to a team-friendly (fully bury-able) 1-2 year deal? |

He is no better than 6 on an admittedly very good defense. With the Hawks defense as it currently stands he is still no better than 5, Joki, Murphy, Gus and Keith are ahead of him, probably Dahlstrom is his equal. I will place him above the diminished Seabrook but not by much.
