That said, it's not surprising to me that he would ask coaches that question. You can't plan on a trade. If the right deal doesn't materialize, then coaches gotta coach

We had all the power a contract Bonus means very little to Terry Botts thought he got the best offer but he got taken and that makes me worried if he actually wanted those players or if he was sold on them

nothing you said here shows that we had "all" the power.. if the bonus meant so little why wouldn't he have just wanted and probably get a better deal? the other GM would have been stupid to take the deal before the bonus was paid if the trade value wasn't going up after the bonus was paid. everythign leads to that being a kind of deadline.. AND it was well known that Buffalo was shopping him because he wanted out.

Tell how we didn’t have all the power ? He was signed for what 6 more years it’s not like he was a free agent the next year and needed to be gone ( I understand what he did )

but hey we could’ve pulled Ryan O’Reilly to the side and said hey if you don’t want to play your hardest your just decreasing your value and teams won’t want you so you’ll be here for a very long time it’s your choice

I just don't see any of the big name UFA's having interest in Buffalo. And Dzingel played college hockey at Ohio State so gotta think he'll want to sign there. Columbus will want Duchene if they lose Panarin.

I would rather see us trade for a 2C.

you are probably right on this.. i dont think we have much of a shot at a UFA but who knows. But i don't really want another band aide like we got in the ROR trade
