Yeah, I agree with Lunion above.

If GMJB doesn't sign him, another GM with playoff aspirations will happily do so if he goes UFA. All of our trade assets are devalued by these terrible seasons so that puts GMJB in a tough spot.

But the trite and simplistic look (that player x point totals equal their total value to a team)is nonsense if you look at the way playoff teams are constructed.

That said, we've seen Zemgus does have some offensive upside that for whatever reason hasn't been evident recently.

He actually almost tied his best P/60 this year. The difference between this year and his super sophomore season (where he actually played 10 fewer games than this year) is power play time and 200 additional minutes of playing time. This is Zemgus

If i may dust off this 'ol chestnut from the great ROR flamewar of 2018: "He's not part of the problem, but he's not part of the solution either."

It's not at all a big deal but you misplaced your apostrophe.

So what you're saying is he scored 36.3% more points in 11 fewer games his sophomore season?

I call that a potential offensive upside.

Shrugs.

He played 200 more minutes than this year, in 10 fewer games. That's almost 3 minutes more a game over 71 games. So if he played 16 minutes a night, with PP time, we could expect him to match his sophomore numbers

We finished 27th in the NHL with Girgs, Sobotka, Larsson, Scandella, Bogo, Wilson, Hunwick, Nelson and Risto in our lineup. My vote is to punt all of them. However, i am only punting Risto if he brings back an equal or better payback - re: RD top 4 or Top 6 Forward.

I didn't put Leino or Erhoff on that mountain because they weren't part of The Tank

They were the reason for the tank. The organization switched to the Rangers model and tried to buy their way in....these were their guys, which forced a tank.

this is exactly why I am open to traded the later first round pick

good chance we have another bottom 6 player

move it for a top 6 player or a piece to get a quality d man

what would mccabe and our later 1st round pick get?

- homiedclown

depends upon the draft and what you're looking for...there were some good players picked after gus but it wasn't an overall outstanding draft by any stretch

84.7% defensive zone starts

Larsson--84.4
Berglund--79.8

all the rest, beginning with Sobotka, 67.5% or lower

odds are if a guy up front, be lucky if he produces like Gus

d men and goalies, 50% chance they have an ok nhl career

trade the pick to vegas and fleece them

am not opposed to trading that pick, ala the trade for Montour...I could also see them using it dependent upon how deep the draft is...and, dependent upon where they lane, i'd take spence knight in a heartbeat if he was available...

maybe a mid-latter first-rounder is all about versatility and having the brains maximize it

It was just a strange team all around. For whatever reason, we pretend Mitts was a 2C, Larsson a 4C, and ERod wasn't used enough. The real problem is that no one played well enough to earn the 2C role, so we played 3 third lines almost evenly. Mitts/Sheary take a hit because they weren't trusted to play any defense.

Even Strength TOI
ERod 12:48
Sobotka 12:11
Larsson 11:53
Mitts 11:41

Housley's bizarre reliance on Sobotka did as much to get him fired as anything else

Going a step further, Housley's personnel useage, line making/juggling and in-game useage of his players played a large part in getting him fired. I wouldn't say those times are indicative of anything but a lost coach
