The Jets have too many right-handed defensemen already (assuming they intend to re-sign Tyler Myers), so Ristolainen actually wouldn't work in this scenario. Not to mention, the Jets need to either bring back Kevin Hayes or find their #2 Center instead of chasing one every trade deadline. So, as much as I would love to see Trouba in a trade to Buffalo... it appears unlikely, unless they are interested in cheaper alternatives like Nylander and others. However, a Trouba to the Leafs deal might make some sense for both teams, unfortunately... if the Jets are willing to take Kadri and another player.

Jets sabres and Sens should talk to each other. Sens need rhd plus other positions, jets need lhd, and sabres need Trouba.

Sens send lhd to jets, jets send Trouba to Sabres, sabres send risto to Sens plus something to jets

I disagree with this. They don't seem super interested in re-signing Myers, and in this scenario they're losing a RHD in Trouba. They need to replace at least one.

Ristolainen isn't a top pair defenseman in the NHL. He's been used out of necessity as one for years and gotten the snot beat out of him playing 25+minutes a night.

You could see he was totally demoralized, exhausted and probably injured at the end of the year.

Some might even say he lost the 'love of the game*".

However, he would probably thrive under a good coach, on a second pairing, second powerplay unit playing 18-20 minutes a night.

EK has Montour on his rumor chart, with us trading him I'm guessing. Then he has Skinner signing with the Sens with the Sabres mentioned as well. You can't make this crap up.

Add the name Todd Richards, former head coach in Columbus and current Tampa assistant, to the list of Sabres’ head coaching candidates.

Stevie Y will get his man in Trouba and Detroit will be the next Tampa, players will sign there with him turning this around.

Say what you want, but Risto has never shown any signs of being exhausted, injured, or listening to coaches. He has everything, except hockey IQ.

If Skinner leaves to sign with the Sens then it's all about money...

I still think Skinner gets extended after a coach is annouced

That's a good landing spot for him

If I had to guess Detroit would be the odds on favorite to land him.

I don't see Stevie Y waiting to get his rebuild moving along

In terms of teams who can spend money and have a chance at being good.... let alone a team that he played for this past season and knows the locker room.... not to mention a team that was able to help him pot 40 goals this year while missing games.

I hope you are right.

Detroit is in such hell in terms of cap. They are a bottom 5 team that has literally 0 dollars in cap space right now and only a ton of 2nd rounders in the cabinet.

Plus only 2 contracts at about $7.5M coming off the books.

The longer it drags on the more obvious is that we are gonna try to pouch some young assistant from a team in the playoffs right?

Yeah, he doesn't have a great 'Hockey IQ' it seems. However, if he's not listening to his coaches why are they putting him out there 25+every night?

Watching the last 25 games this year, there was, I think, a noticeable drop off in his play and engagement in the play. So I suspect injury or fatigue.

I would say he's not being used in the most effective way. Playing against Ovechkin & Bergeron & Stamkos.

He will earn his paycheck if so....

That roster is so old and bloated with contracts no body would want.

I think the most realistic guy we can afford and have the peices to target is Vincent Trocheck down in FLA. Had a rough year dealing with injuries so he can be had cheap, I think.

Im talking realistic and makes sense. If they really are the top choice for Bobrovsky and Panarin, they need to consider their cap and structure.

We can and should consider it and I don't even think we would have to give up Risto.

We all thought Tampa was screwed with Hedman and Stamkos needing new deals but somehow Stevie figured it out.

Obviously he has a ton of work to do but I don't see him dragging his feet, to make them better

Conner seems like a Player they want to keep, I would rather keep Sam.
