The Leafs did not play him the PP but on the PK. Someone need to invest in a good streaming service.

Wasn't sure if he was talking 2018-19 because he would be correct, but if he was talking about previous years, then he's talking out his ass.

To TOR: 2019 1st + Hagg + conditional 3rd rounder in 2020

To PHI: Marner + 2019 6th

no thanks, I think the Leafs have zero interest in trading Marner.

Hardly, Alfredsson led the Sens to many playoff wins including a trip to the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Season before being traded Karlsson put on an incredible show as he dragged an under talented Sens squad to the Eastern Conference final losing in overtime in game 7 to the Pens. He was far and away the best performer of any player on the ice in every series he played in.

Tavares has done nada. All the years in Long Island and no playoff series win.

- spatso

That was Spezza and Heatley.

And Anderson is what got them to the conference finals in their overachieving season.

And Marner had to play with that bum Tavares. He has never won anything, nada, zilch. Winners win. Losers pad their personal statistics but fail to deliver at show time. Guys like Thornton, Spezza and Tavares have great individual skill but they do not have the heart of a winner and they disproportionately affect the outcome for the entire team.

Quick question for Flyers fans:

What do you think is a fair offer for Provorov for his next contract?

Is it close to being over $10 million, like Marner?

do you mean the one he is going to sign prior to this upcoming season?

No way it's over 10 million, no shot. It will be in the range of 6/6.5 mil

If you're the Leafs and you HAVE to trade Mitch Marner, gun to your head? You're getting more than Provorov and Konecny lol.

So the market thinks that Marner is worth over $10 million, and the market thinks that Provorov is worth $6.5 million?

Interesting bit of information when evaluating a potential trade of Marner and Provorov, no?

Great. Now Leafs fans get to hear from fans of a poopty team that missed the playoffs tell us why their poopty players are worth Marner and X. And that Nylander sucks and can't be moved. We're fine over here thanks in TO. Cap is going to hurt this year, but thanks for pointing out the obvious. Go troll TB and WPG and COL for a couple days now...they have a bunch of guys that need to be signed too. Let's see what the Flyers have to get Connor or Laine or Point or Raantanen and why they are super human compared to what the Leafs have.

Why is it that we follow the same formula year after year?

Great playoff expectations for Leafs.

Leafs lose on scoreboard but Leaf fans insist they outplayed the other team.

Corsi show how Leafs were dominated and spanked.

Leaf fans complain about officiating.

Summer season finally begins and Leaf fans start talking about the Leafs as certain Stanley Cup finalist. Year after year we repeat the same cycle.

It is amazing as we go from one step to the next and nobody ever uses the word choke.

Everyone is talking about Marner signing an offer sheet but I don’t think he is the one the Leafs have to worry about. Marner will sign for around 10-10.5 on a long term deal, everyone knows it and the Leafs can/will have to work with that.

To me the guys the Leafs need to worry about are Johnsson and Kapanen. Both had good years and both are RFAs. If a team signed Kapanen to a 4-5 year deal at 4 per the Leafs would be screwed. The would get a 2nd and be in a tough spot. I’m not saying he is worth that but for a team like Carolina who has lots of cap space and can afford it, adding a young offensive player like Kapanen for only a 2nd would be amazing for them and horrible for the Leafs.

To me, this is a most likely scenario

Let's hope someone offer sheets him. I'd love to see Toronto in Cap hell. They can't keep everyone together that they have and win. They will either let him walk on an offer sheet or match/sign him and trade Nylander.

Unless Toronto low balls him or negotiations go south, someone will likely have to blow him away ($12M) for him to sign one.

Just because you submit an OS to a player doesn't mean he'll sign it.

They can also LTIR Horton and kick the can down the road a few years. They're not going to have trouble getting him under the cap.

Isles fans that want to poach something from the Leafs on the cheap would be better suited focusing their energy on someone like Kadri or Kapanen. Even Nylander would be a more realistic thought than offer sheeting Marner.

Probably because other people understand the meaning of the word "choke", unlike you.

Last 3 playoffs the Leafs faced the #1 team in the NHL, the #4 team in the NHL, and the #2 team in the NHL.

That's called losing to a higher ranked team, not choking. Not surprising you don't know the difference though, since you have the IQ of a soggy carrot.

Sorry if I was unclear. Yes, I was referring to his career year in 2018-19 when he was on the ice for 60% of the Leafs' PP minutes. Actually, this usage dates back to the previous season when he was on the ice for 50% of PP minutes. Actually his per season avg PP usage is 41% of the Leafs' PP minutes.

Obviously Rielly is an outstanding PP quarterback and offensive defenseman in general, but if Provorov quaterbacked that PP, I would expect maybe not 70+ pts, but good numbers. Those minutes have always gone to Gostisbehere.

Defensively, notwithstanding his bad first half this year, Provorov has been counted on for heavy defensive and short handed minutes since about 25 games into his NHL career (partly because the Flyers D corps were awful back then). While Rielly's workload is increasing yearly, he was not thrown heavy defensive responsibilities right away (Good job by the Leafs with developing him patiently). His per season average in short handed time is 25% of Leafs' SH minutes to Provorov's 59%. And he starts far more shifts in the O zone and far fewer in the D zone than Provorov. As an aside, I'd like to see the Flyers ease up Provorov's defensive responsibilities a bit going forward.

My point? #1 Dmen don't always resemble each other. Provorov and Rielly are used much differently by their teams but both are legit #1 Dmen. I would think that by year 6 of his career, playing on an offensive powerhouse (assuming the Flyers ever become one) - particularly for 60% of Flyers' PP minutes - Provorov would put up similar numbers to Rielly. I'm pretty sure that if Provorov was on the Leafs, he would be option #1 for defensive zone faceoffs, d zone starts, and penalty killing. The Leafs just don't yet have that kind of guy right now. Even you guys can recognize that, right?
