So I’m on the subway back to Manhattan and this pack of Canes fans are in the same car hoopin it up.
There a homeless guy out cold on a bench by us and when they are leaving I yell and say hey boys don’t forget Svechnikov over here on the bench knocked out.
They didn’t like that to much. Oh well

I have no clue what is and what isn't goalie interference anymore. Unfortunately neither do NHL officials. That said , the Islanders made Mrazek look like Hasek last night. Hopefully they put up a big number on Sunday.

That was pretty terrible. Team has to regroup and find another gear for Sunday.

If anything could maybe get learned from this game is no more of this cute pass poop. Get pucks on net, no more no look drop passes. Just shoot it.

I'll probably change my tune if they lose again next game, but I think they're fine. The biggest problem they had was I'm pretty sure Nelson was as drunk as I was last night. Guy missed two completely wide open nets!

Definitely did not have a good game along with Barzal and Eberle. I think they come out a heck of a lot stronger on Sunday.

That layoff was one of the longest in NHL history. It was the one thing that actually worried me about sweeping the Pens. The Isles have had a few times this year where they were playing very synched up hockey and then had a bit of a layoff and lost their cohesion. (All Star break comes to mind).
Their 3 zone passing in the Pens series was as good as it had been all year but it was sloppy last night. One thing Trotz clearly does well, as indicated by their never losing more than 2 consecutive games, is get them back on track. Hopefully they come back aggressive and galvanized but what really was a missed opportunity

I do think the Isles will rebound tomorrow. I'm not surprised with the loss at all and I was not feeling good at all when the Isles missed the earlier chances.

Totally agree, but I would just add that the Canes' defense was rather impressive compared to the Pens. Despite having just come off a grueling 7-game series vs. the Caps, the Canes for the most part limited the Isles' time and space with the puck. I don't think there will be any easy games for the Isles this series.

I just don't understand how it's goalie interference when the goalie is outside the crease. I realize you cant plow over goalies when they go behind the net to stop the puck and you cant run goalies when the puck is loose in the crease, but when a player unintentionally bumps a goalie outside the crease, that to me should be a good goal and definitely not a penalty. I wish the league would address this and make it unable to be poorly interpreted by the officials.

I was thinking the same thing watching them last night. They actually play a similar neutral zone checking system where they clog up the middle of the ice.

Only have to look at what happened with Brady Tkachuk and Lehner. The same people saying there was no way that was goaltender interference here on this site are now spouting off that Lee interfered with Mrazek. That was a terrible call between Mrazek being out of the paint and Lee clearly being shoved into him. Brady literally leaped into Lehner’s Head after Nelson barely touched him along with Lehner being IN the paint. That was a goal. Tack on the penalty and it’s in givemea(frank)ingbreak territory. Doesn’t matter now just have to move on and be better next game but to me it’s not even a debatable.

Both teams had a few grade a chances but the isles limited the cans most of the game too. They will be ok if they win next game

I'm beating a dead horse at this stage but https://twitter.com/ThisI.../1121936349702098944?s=09

Several factors here to me make this obviously NOT goalie interference.
1. At no point is Lee's trajectory ever towards Mrazek. It is from just above the goalline heading towards the top of the paint.
2. The Canes defender fully extends his arms in an effort to push Lee. There is no body to body contact between them, only an intentional push
3. Lee turns both skates sideways and arches his back in an effort to avoid Mrazek. His actual trajectory even despite the push would have never gone through the crease.

I don’t (frank)ing care what Lee thinks (frank) that guy. In all seriousness I think the “without seeing it” part of your posts kind of tells you what you need to know. Rule states if the player is pushed into the goaltender it’s not interference. You’re a ref right?😉

Whatever done with this discussion was after my last post😂

Yes, and the point of contact between Lee and Mrazek occurs outside the crease.

Based on what? Mental telepathy? Because he went straight to the penalty box without arguing the call?
