Any interest in Coyle for 2C short run....3C/Wing long run? I like his game and he has size.

I'm thinking Boston hangs on to him. They gave up Donato to get him after all.

Guess Im wishfully hoping that Fletcher Minny connection finds someplace to show dividends and he could pry him out of there on the hope of escaping being a #3 and jumping to #2.

Speaking of a veteran presence, why not look at a guy like Marleau for the third line, Toronto is in serious cap trouble and needs to shed contracts. One year left on it and probably could be had for cheap. This guy still skates well and is very respected.

UFA's that interest me:
Forwards:
Brock Nelson
Mats Zuccarello
Anders Lee
Brett Conolly
Brandon Tanev

Defense:
Erik Karlsson
Alex Edler

I have interest for some reason or another and certain roles but like everything cost and term would be factors as well.

(I think one of Nelson or Lee get re signed in NYI)

what do you think contract offers would need to look like for those players?

Giroux qualifies as vet experience. Jake too even if he’s a bimbo.

If we trade for Marleau we're doing the Leafs a huge favor and they'd better be willing to part with a nice prospect for our trouble.

Nylander, with whatever question marks he comes with, has Claude Giroux-level skill. The contract is huge, but he's 22. He has a history of producing at a high-end 2nd-line level. This could be the one and only chance to get him out of TO.

As for checking the AV 'vet' box, better to do that on defense, where they're looking for a vet anyway. The 2C needs to be fast, hungry and effective.

- Tomahawk

Ill tell ya what, he doesn't have Giroux's heart, dude went out like a female dog in game 7 and the whole series in general. I wouldn't mind having a talent like that on my team but he took a huge dive compared to what he did in his rookie and even sophomore year, and thats a big cap hit for a question mark. In terms of price, what would it take? I would not be OK with trading any of Provy, Myers, Sanheim, Ghost, Frost, or Farabee, in addition to all the other untouchables. That leaves Ratcliffe maybe, not sure who else, and picks? Rubstov, Vorobyev, Laberge, NAK, all them do not have the value Toronto would want.

On the other hand, it could work if Toronto was scared off by his recent performance, with the contract situation for Marner lingering, they could accept a couple prospects and picks. Never know what type of desperation they will be under come June.

In terms of the vet on defense, would love Edler, on like a 2 or 3 year deal. Would also obv like a guy like Trouba, Spurgeon, and perhaps even a guy like Subban.

What do you think about Suter (of course if he would waive his NMC), you think anyway we can pry him away from Minnesota, any interest in him?

Flyers are way too soft, and still not enough fast skaters. The star forwards aren't fast...Girouox,Voracek, Konecny and Couturier are all average as far as speed goes. They need speed and toughness for starters

Nolan Patrick+

(Kind of have my doubts that Dubas would even be interested in Patrick, tho.)

If they're not happy with that, move on.

They just need a stop-gap/insurance vet until the kids come together. The guys you listed would tie up a lot of cap space, and would cost primo assets to acquire.

No chance. He's going to the Panthers. Can't compete with them. The last time they won a playoff series Panarin was 6 years old.

One team beat the defending champs, the other team beat the team that won the cup back to back the prior two years. Total embarrassment to the Flyers.

Once again the playoff field parts like Moses and the Red Sea for a Boston team.

No doubt they reach the SCF. First round is when the upsets happen but second round reality is about to hit.

it is amazing to me the type of crap the Bs get away with. Zone in on a guy like Carlo, good player but constantly cross checking and slashing every shift, never called. Imagine Gudas sucker punched Tavares like Chara did? Debrusk taking guys knees out and it's just brushed aside. Insane.

I don't think the DeBrusk play was bad. He was going for an open ice hit and Kadri tried to avoid it at the last second. Never stuck his leg out, imo.
