I kinda feel bad and then I don't. I mean, they've pretty much had the world handed to them on a silver platter as an expansion team. If it were only that easy for us when we were. It took years to get to the playoffs, much less win a series. Look at Columbus, they just won their first playoff series.

No, now that I think about it, I don't feel bad for them at all.

Ha, don't feel bad for them one bit either. They were going to have learn eventually that success in the NHL isn't just handed to you, regardless of how hard Bettman tried. I don't hate Vegas at all, though I do resent they just got to skip over the typical growing pains for an expansion franchise. I admire their fans for supporting them from the start, but I wonder how many of them truly realize their early success was more manufactured than natural.

True. As a Preds fan, think about everything we went through, from 28 wins the first year (which was considered pretty good at the time); selling the team and having to rally to keep them here; finally hitting our stride right when the strike happens; struggling for that first round win; the Finals run...I mean I wouldn't trade it for the world. It makes us who we are as a fan base. We've earned it.

I still get nostalgic for the earlier days sometimes... Those Tuesday night games with 8,000 people in the arena and a section mostly to myself, having to explain what offsides was to the one person sitting across from me. Taking friends and family of mine who wanted nothing to do with hockey and swore it would never work in Nashville, to one game and making them fans for life. The first time we made the playoffs was amazing... It took so long for the team to scratch and claw to get their using bargain basement players who Trtoz got to play their butts off. It was an amazing feeling, and I do kind of feel bad Vegas fans will never get to experience that. It truly is the adversity you face along the way that strengthens the fanbase.

I remember that first home playoff game, against Detroit, we were down 0-2 in the series and ended up winning the game 2-0, I think. The place was so loud and crazy. We ended up losing the series, I was at that game too, game 6 if I remember right.

I was there opening night in 98 too. I remember before we even had the Preds, a few of us at the arena when Bettman and the NHL came to look at the new arena, I guess to see if it was up to snuff. We all went to Wolfy's after and had a drink. In those days the only hockey was the Ice Flyers at Municipal Auditorium, where $10 would get you next to the glass. Those were the days...

Vingan reporting the Preds are not planning to make any coaching changes - all coaches being retained.

Ugh. Not the news most Preds fans were hoping for!

I am starting to question Poile's decison making.

Hopefully, it's a sign that he'll be focusing on making adjustments to the roster. Get some guys in here that can run Lavy's system the way it's intended to work. No point in keeping the coaching staff otherwise. Something has to change, the weaknesses of this team are too glaringly obvious.

Lavy switched Muse to run the PP 2/3 into the season, consulted outside coaches and players, practiced and discussed and they were still bottom of the league and failed to get one PP goal against Dallas. SJ got 4 in four minutes.

Much of the problems with the team are fundamentals: guys out of position, puck control, lack of discipline, turnovers. How the entire coaching staff makes it without someone getting their walking papers is baffling.

I'm not saying the players don't have some of the blame, but at some point you have to adapt your strategy to the talent you have, make adjusts to take advantage of your strengths AND weaknesses.
