Kap had 2 goals in 23 games going back to the reg season and playoffs.
if we are being fair...he sucked when the team needed him - senstroll
I think Johnsson is much better than Kapanen.
At least from what I've seen.
Sure he's older and Kapanen might get better but.... Johnsson looks like a keeper to me. |

Marner faced much tougher comp.
Willie isnt the single reason the leafs lost, no. there's isnt a single reason the leafs lost.
But willie wasnt good pretty much the whole series......yes other players werent good the whole series as well. Brown, Kap wasnt that great. Marleau had decent games at times and than was horrible at others. Gardiner was....well gardiner. - Fakepartofme
No doubt, but he also gets to play with Tavares.
Matthews should be with Nylander all the time. |

to be fair he was put on 3rd line with zombie wingers when Kadri exploded.
i mean if you are being fair - senstroll
Agreed, he was put in a position he usually doesnt play (but I was told by santo, Nylander's 30 games at center were great, and its a better position for him).
Nylander was put on a line with two former 20 goal scorers.
So....ya lets be fair.

Trouba is an RFA for only one more year and all reports suggest he has no interest in playing in Canada, and the Jets definitely don’t need wingers, a 2nd line Center and some more D yes, wingers, no - Ross77
wasn't saying the deal was likely......was suggesting to the guy who said the leafs should target Laine that Trouba was a much better target for them.
I have little doubt that he will end up in Detroit in the near future (pretty sure he's from Michigan) |

So much drive. I love Kaps speed, but I agree, keep Johnsson. He's basically what I had hoped Brown would be. |

this bothered me so much.. Down 3-1 with 7 minutes left and he sends the Gauthier line out on the ice.
It should have only been;
Hyman-Tavares-Marner
Johnsson-Matthews-Kap
If you want to reward Moore and Ennis for their play last night. Then play them with Matthews or Tavares..
In the last 10 minutes of the game, Marleau, Brown, Gauthier should not have stepped foot on the ice. - PatC80
Nope the plan going in was roll the 4th line in this situation FFS. This was just after the TV timeout and and he still had his actual time out. Someone else said that Moore and Ennis could have rolled with Nylander for a shift too the brake it up. |

Anyone interested in Tyler Myers on a cheap deal? Better question I guess is would he fit in Dubas' vision? |

you're behind already.
leafs hockeybuzz posters' new shiny tool that will be put on 2nd line with matthews next year is bracco.
he'll be the perfect fit apparently because matthews and him played 3 games together for US youth teams
what could go wrong?

My number one take away from the game is that Babcock didnt play the final minutes like it was game 7.
I dont know why he didnt roll out Tavares line then Matthew's, one after the other. Give Nylander a shift with Matthews and say "shut down these 6". See if the Bruins could do it.
San Jose rolled 4 defense all through OT and I believe at the end of the game too. They shortened the bench and got results. |

Bracco really put up big numbers in the AHL.
That's practically a guarantee he will be a superstar.
In fact, take out the word "practically."

Lots of little details that should and will be micromanaged but really it was special teams that sunk the Leafs.
I haven't seen the line matchup details but Boston's top 6 is pretty damn good and so coming out a couple goals ahead (at 5v5) of their top 6 is a win for the Leafs. Our top 6 didn't score a tonne at 5 v 5 but either did the B's top 6. It was tight. The bottom 6 was pretty even at 5v5 too.
It was a series defined by inches and the Leafs sucked on the special teams. Boston was 5 for 7 in Toronto on the PP. |

you're right - it worked out that way for our superstar AHL goalie, so why not for our AHL scorer? |

As much as I hate Greedlander and his uninspired play, let's not forget the most important thing here:
He was dropped to the 3rd line because Kadri (once again) took a childish, stupid, selfish penalty that got him kicked out of the playoffs.
Second franking year in a row.
I used to like Kadri, but the Leafs need to get rid of him. Keeping him sends a message that the Leafs will tolerate this crap.
He needs to go.
