I tend to agree, right now I dont see this season as anything other then a completely wasted season with no first round pick to boot.
Its not all doom in gloom like the Toronto media and trolls would like to believe however. - Archaic
The team is fragile, physically and mentally.

you're right.
we need more superstars like nylanders.
great to have an opinion about a guy you have never seen playing. |

They would get him for the Marlies for at least 1 year. I think a couple Marlies will be up with the Leafs next year as some bodies are going to have to be moved to stay under the cap.

Im not sure thats the case, honestly I blame the coaching staff. If they would even have employed a mediocore PP/PK in the playoffs the leafs would have won easily.

Tampa, Calgary, Washington and Winnipeg must be thinking the same thing.
Funny how all of the media talking heads pick Boston to win, then when they do they come down with all of the negatives on Babcock and Dubas.
It's a tough league, the playoff system sucks but that's the way it is.
I do have my doubts Anderson will ever be the goalie to win a Cup with, I think he is a choker. I am betting Dubas makes a significant move there over the off season. |

I've taken a lot of poop here for not being an Andersen fan. I have acknowledged the times, during the regular season, when he has been the team's best player.
As a fan, does anyone feel good about having him in net for a game 7? How do you think the players feel about that?

He was good enough for us to win the series, there is no question on that. They said the same thing about other goalies in the past. The fact is our specialty teams were pathetic, and our assistants deservered to be fired.
Even with the awful specialty teams, I truly believe if we had any other matchup in the first round we would have won. |

Had the specialty teams been even mediocore the Leafs would have never gone to game 7, those two goals he let in were soft though. He was not good in game 7, that much is obvious.

I agree. Maybe next year they don’t go to a game 7 and it’s all a moot point lol |

Babcock is much more competitive than Dubas and wants to win a SC.
Dubas was concentrating more on making Leafs a more 'equitable hiring environment' - that was his main goal for this season.
Plus he felt the job was already done last season with this:

Imagine any other GM in league doing that for an AHL win.
If Chayka would have such a celebration after an AHL championship win, there would be days of making fun of him and his franchise.
Lou must have been embarrased by the little kid.
This is not the message you want to send out your NHL team.
Leafs will definitely not win a SC with Keefe as a head coach (Keefe the "Brampton Boys" member, the same guy that was not willing to report to San Antonio after being scratched from Coyotes NHL roster early in pre-season - that guy) - he has got a very questionable character. Leafs should not want to be involved with Keefe.
That then links to Dubas and his questionable decisions.
In all honesty I doubt Dubas is capable of leading this franchise any further, let alone a SC.
Lou knew that.
Hunter knew that.
Babcock knows that.
Biggest question mark is Shanahan - why the hell would he want to be involved with a guy that is so questionable in all his decisions, and in particular picks out bad company to be surrounded with.
We'll have a discussion about this in 5 years or so - I now predict a lot of dirt will come up from the Dubas 'era' during the next few years. - MaximusAurelius
I stopped reading after the first sentence. How do babs is more competitive than dubie? And if babs were more competitive and wanted a cup more, wouldnt he put his stubbornness aside and make in game adjustments to do whatever he could to win?
Cause he doesnt do that. |

for all the 'non-adjustments' of babcock; please look at # of shifts in the 3rd period for matthews and tavares, and how babcock has adapted quite a bit over last 2 years.
i never said babcock was perfect.
any criticism of dubas is laughed away here though - like he is mr perfect.
much more difficult to be coach than gm - not contentwise per se, but because a coach is measured every game on his performance (so that's 3-4 times a week) while GM gets 2-3 years to 'prove himself'.
just saying people should be looking at dubas a bit more in detail, he really isn't that 'saviour' most people think he is. |

There’s no free rides to the cup final, anyone thinks we would have just bowled over CBJ/Canes etc haven’t been paying attention much. - Garnie
No one said we would.
But its wide open.
They missed a HUGE opportunity

Agreed.
Success was moving past the 1st round and beating the bruins.
They did neither. In fact, they were a sub .500 team since jan.

Maybe if that criticism wasnt coming from a known Dubas hater for no reason at all and someone who though Federov woudl be a good GM for the Leafs.
Or someone that made valid points associated with their arguments?
Dubas has been on the job one year, Babcock has had multiple years. Look at what Trotz did for the Islanders, they were dead last in goals against last year.... |

Big time failure. The only good thing is that at least Muzzin has another year. Had Dubas given up the first rounder for a rental that would have been pretty bad.
Hoping they can make some moves and not overpay Marner.... |

Is Cole Fonsted going to make Habs coming season?
I saw him last year a few games, I really really liked his playing style.
He would be a great match on a line with Kotkaniemi I think.
Curious on whether he still needs another 1-2 years, or already NHL ready (I suppose not yet) |

I live in Canada now. I only watch the Gagarin Cup finals or a few MHL/KHL games with draft eligible players in em. Not sure I get the hype on this Podzkoliziznaianin kid. |
