5 lefties and 1 righty probably isn't the recipe for success.
Carolina was rumoured to be looking for a centre but more of a top line center. - manvanfan

The current roomer (and keep in mind this is Toronto, where as a member of the sports media you aren't doing your job if you aren't trying to sabotage the Leafs) is that there is a deep disconnect between Dubas and Babcock.
Dubas is strongly committed to the "new NHL" where size and toughness don't matter.
Babcock thinks he's a young, insolent P.O.S. who has no idea how to build a winner.
Take it with a grain of salt, but that's what some like to talk about here. - Atomic Wedgie
Personally I'm a firm believer in listening to my Elders and maybe not doing exactly what they say but at least not pretending like I have a better way no matter what.
Rumour was for a bit that Babcock wanted a RHD and got a LHD.
Size and grit doesn't sound like trading Lindholm for Petan. |

(frank) I was about to say that until I turned the page.
You mean we can't just get a solid RHD off kijiji? |

the problem is, when you hand him poopty players..he plays them (Marleau)
but what in the intangible hell is going on when acquiring a 2 time cup winning D is viewed as bad

They'll just keep the d corps together, maybe trade TVR away for something, and plug Necas/Gauthier/Bean into the lineup next season. |

So the Leafs had those players and did not advance, but now they are on different teams and advanced...so now the Leafs need those players to advance - senstroll
No, pay attention. I am saying the reason you didn't advance last year wasn't because you had players that COULDN'T KEEP UP BECAUSE OF THEIR LESS TALENTED STYLE.. The put down of players who play with grit and fire is B.S. . The Leafs went with the TALENT players this year so where is the big result. Then add in the fact that all the LESS talented players you let go advanced. What happens to the you can't win with physical, gritty players anymore argument. GET IT . |

Not sure why everyone wants to get rid of him. Obviously he made some selfish bone headed plays. But getting tossed clearly illustrated that our perceived depth isn’t what we thought and I believe we need him.
Nylander isn’t going anywhere simply because you don’t sell at an all time low on assets. And he didn’t work as 3c. As much as I hate him he needs to play on Matthews wing.
To those saying he was handcuffed by crappy players. Who scored 24 goals in combined 164 games (0.146 goals per game avg). Your boy Willy scores 7 goals in 54 games (0.13 goals per game avg) |

So, now that you've pointed out their downfalls, what is your expected return in a trade. knowing the above negatives. - Fakepartofme
We're so desperate for scoring, all that's required is having scored a goal in the past and a pulse. |

Trading Kadri is not a good move. Yes, he lost control 2 playoffs in a row and severely hampered the depth of the team with that selfishness. However, that's a fixable problem. Kadri has a good contract and as a 3rd line center can move up the line up in case of injury to Matthews or Tavares. He's a heart and soul guy who cares and the reason the Leafs have the deepest center position in the league. Just needs to mature a bit. He fits his role on this team really well. There are other pieces on this team that don't and should be replaced before Kadri.

Leafs should be talking to Nashville ASAP.
They need scoring and have a plethora of defensive depth.
Nylander to Nashville for some defense.
That's gotta be the starting point this offseason. |
