Well, there's buzz in Smashville about moving PK or Ellis, or both, so if the Leafs have some extra scoring they could part ways with...
And, if you guys want to switch coaches, I'd be ok with that too. Lavy's peaked with this team. Babcock is familiar with us from his days with the Wings. A change of scenery might do both good. |

Gardiner is gone.
Here’s the cold, hard truth:
Gardiner is gone and Hainsey should not be re-signed. Leafs need to pick up two top-4 dmen this off-season.
That won’t happen without a trade.
And they also need to put Marleau on Robidas Island and trade the contract. - Atomic Wedgie
That's easy! Sign Karlsson and Myers to hometown discounts! |

Two months ago I would have said (and believe I did) that I didn't foresee Marleau retiring.
The way he played for the last two months gives me pause. He looks done. He is slow. He is not engaged. He doesn't battle. He doesn't seem to care. He has to know it's time.
If he retires and lets us trade his rights on July 2, almost all of our female doging about the cap has been an academic exercise. |

With all due respect, I think it's on Marleau to tell Leafs management that he's done.. I don't see them sending him to Lupul's Lane or Robidas Island without his consent. |

honest question... is there a market for him?
I want him gone also. I never wanted him signed in the first place. The problem is now it is selling low I think.
Put him with Matthews, let him put up some points and then trade him.
Of course, if he does put up points with Matthews, why would we trade him.
 - Aetherial
I think we have the worst perspective/view on this b/c we just sat through the worst of his play.
I'm pretty confident that he's still viewed as an elite top line point producer. Hard to acquire those guys. I doubt he's dealt though - maybe in part b/c the shine is currently off his sexy mane. |

I think it has. And the record will show that I've been kickin' that theory around since October. Just the way the contract was structured set up the 'possibility' that he'd walk after year 2. And now ..with the team in cap hell and his play really declining ...I think (hope) he's the type of guy that knows when to walk.
Marleau + something of value to the Yotes for something of no value ....July 2nd. |

Be warned, Ellis is a wee man, opposing players have been tossing him around like a rag doll all year. If you watch replays, he's the defensive player allowing the guy to walk right in on Peks for the goal.
PK loves the spotlight, which allows him to work on his new show about turnovers.
Lavy, well since we were 0- five billion on the PP, he has special teams and adjustment issues.
Not that I don't want to trade, but I am a fan of the Leafs too... |

Special teams being fixed should be priority number one. There's no reason why we can't be a top 5 PP in the league; we were like 13th if you didn't count October's insanity.
Special teams would've made the difference. |

Is there a market for a 22 year old winger with two 60+ point seasons? No...no... - AdamFrench
The other side of that coin is the holdout, the 7 million and the production of a 4th liner. |

My hate for Kadri is strong and it's hard for me to be objective about this.
But fact is, Leafs needed and still need him. Very much so.
He's a complete jackass and an idiot but he brings exactly what you'd want from a 3rd centre playing behind Tavares and Matthews.
If he could somehow not take himself out of the play, he'd be quite the asset. I'm not sure you could swap him easily for someone who would bring exactly that. - Scabeh
So you are suggesting Kadri for Gallagher? |

I'd be looking at Stralman, for a UFA option. Slotted in with Rielly would be an upgrade over Hainsey.
Zaitsev-Muzzin are fine for a shutdown pair for another year; Zaitsev impressed me with his play without the puck... guy ever learns how to make a pass, we'll be laughing.
Longer term, guys like Spurgeon should be targeted; guys with another year left who may not resign. Maybe Faulk, would certainly give us a PP shot threat. |
