I like Kadri - but as a #2C he is definitely not fitting into that #3C role.
Kadri to play well needs to play against topline opposing team, and have more playing time. So unless you move Kadri to Matthews' wing, there's no point in keeping him.
Johnsson - not top6 material, better sell high on him.
Nylander - no need to further explain why to trade this no-heart no-compete player.
Marleau is an obvious problem, but surely cannot be moved.

Leafs need:
backup goalie
2 wingers to play with Matthews
a 3rd line center
2 d-men to be paired with Rielly and Dermott (unless you make Rielly - Dermott the top pair which I could see as a real possibility, Dermott will be a great player imo).

not alot of options around, but i could see:

Kadri going to Nashville (Ekholm?) / Dallas (Faksa +?).
Nylander going to NYR in exchange for Kreider + 1st?
Johnsson I have no idea which team could be interested - but it seems difficult that Leafs can retain him due to his salary expectations.

or
Talbot / Mrazek (UFAs)

He's way worse than Phanoof. Dion didn't have a fan club that would die for him though.

Babcock taking another shot at dubas and what players he had available is utterly nonsensical. So tone def it's unbeleiveable. He just spent the series hold Matthews back and massively overplaying a husk of a player in marleau. When asked why he was on the ice late "because he deserved to be there". Why? You don't get to complain about who you have available to play when you refuse to play the players you do have and continually try to force feed ineffective players.

Back to back game where he royally (frank)ed up the goalie pull. Last night leafs didn't touch the puck once they pulled their goalie, no shots for gave up 3-4 shot attempts against with the first empty net.

I have been critical of Babcock all year.....player usage, the pk has been trash the pp is completely inept among others but i never said or thought he should be fired, but after this series and his bs comments post game I wouldn't be bothered if we didn't see him back next year. He's a 5mil coach. Highest paid coach in the league and he got destroyed by (frank)ing Cassidy.


When your pp can't score (with the talent they have) and their pk is litterally historically bad and nothing changes and the opposition comes out and says poop like I can't believe they kept doing the same thing and didn't change anything on the pp or pk you have to seriously question e coaching staff.

There's definitely a disconnect between GM and coach and I think Mike made sure it was obvious.

Hopefully they can find a happy medium because neither style seems to be the answer.

Issue is not on how Babcock used or not used his players.
Sure, he could have given Matthews / Marner / Tavares a bit more time.
But honestly they weren't playing that well yesterday to believe that would have made a big difference.

Issue with yesterday's game is that it seemed only Trevor Moore, a guy that just joined the team, was hungry to win that game.

Whether that's the players or the coaching, I don't know.
But that's definitely an issue.
Personally I think you can't have a winning mentality with some players obviously freeriding.
