Are we talking about Z?
Cause he may play in the top 4, but hes not a top 4 D

Yeah, Zaitsev is a really solid #6 defenseman.

Yes. I caught a bit of the Caps series and he's been good. Smart guy with size that can skate and pass.

I think his game bounced back massively when Gardiner was taken away from him. Which is understandable and it happens to all dmen.

It's a long contract but they have no need to rush a trade for him, and have no one to replace him.

We've been pleading for a top 4 RHD for a number of years now. At the moment we only have 1 signed for next year and that's Zaitsev.

I assume Rielly, Muzzin and Dermott are the 3 LHD next year.

- walshyleafsfan

Zaitsev isn’t a top 4 d-man. He’s a 5/6 getting the minutes and money of a top 4.

Second-half Dougie has been elite.

No, the pressure is off the Canes to trade D now that they know Fox isn't signing.

They can roll the exact same D corps next year without issue.

5/6 yes.
Who can move up in case of injury.
But on a cup winning team or even a 2nd round team, he cannot be a regular in your top 4

Stralman a righty?
- Byfuglien Ate Me

Yeah. He's getting on a bit and that contract might be a killer??

I think he's a grass os always greener type player though. Imo

What’s going on with Fox? Can he sign with other teams now or does he have to wait until July 1?

A lot like a bigger TVR, in my opinion.

Or, like, Yannick Weber or whatever.

I think with Muzzin he's shown he's a top 4 dman.

More importantly though for next season is we will have 0 RHD (maybe Liljegren as a rookie) if he is moved.

He can't sign with anyone else until July next season.

He can either sign with the Canes, get traded to another team and sign there, or spend the year in Harvard again.
