Yes, should’ve kept Lou so he could’ve signed another 38 year old to a 3 year 6M+ contract. Lou never made a mistake ever. Blame it all on Dubas. - Steven_Seagull
different times.
marleau signing actually made an impact on the leafs organization - no other legit good ufa wanted to join leafs in last 10y; shouldnt underestimate that.
lou did a great job in toronto given the starting cards he was dealt |

He played the poop out of that 4th line when they were behind hoping for some 4th line magic.
Problem is, the Bruins 4th line actually gets goals. Leafs 4th line? Not so much.
Dumb move. - JohnFergusonJr

Full of the awful takes tonight eh?
Andersen and Matthews were 2 of the Leafs 3 best players in the series. Next you’ll be bashing Rielly. - Feeling Glucky?
that 3rd goal people keep talking about... reilly put his stick out and might have threw off Freddie... since the puck might have been a riser as a result of the blade of Reilly's stick... |

Oh come on. They overpaid him horribly to come. He had a 2 year 4.5 million deal from San Jose on the table.
If Lou got him cheap, fine.
Are you seriously giving Lou more credit for that than Dubas getting Tavares? |

Gauthier and the 4th line kept the pressure on, the whole game. They didn't score, but kept the pressure on the Bruins. They were better then the Nylander line and had more offensive zone time then the Matthews line. Babcock should have sat the Nylander line and spotted Willy on the Matthews line and double shifted 34. That's the only criticism that I can put on Babcock. - PrinceLH

zaitsev played really well this series - MaximusAurelius
I'd say solid ...like 6.5/10 kind of solid. Limited his mistakes but still doesn't create any offense. Bab's limited his ice after the Leafs were down by two.
Muzzin and Rielly I'd say played really well. Hainsey was meh ...Gardiner and Dermott were hurt/needed to be better. |

His biggest issue is the number of minutes he plays and the Sabres are a terrible team. Play him 22 minutes a game and you'd see an uptick in his game. - PrinceLH
Nope. He's Jake Gardiner bad. Lower Jake Gardner's minutes and you just get bad Jake Gardiner for less time on the ice. |

I'm pretty confident they set the deal up for his retirement. He gets almost all of the $$ in the first two years. His play (he's done) and the fact that he'd only make 1.25 next year makes me think he's leaning towards retirement. So Leafs need to package him up with a pick and send him to the desert. |

Pesce is actually playing better on his off side than he was on his right, oddly.
But he ain't going anywhere. He and Slavin have stupid affordable contracts and can anchor down the top 4 for a long time. |

I think his game bounced back massively when Gardiner was taken away from him. Which is understandable and it happens to all dmen.
It's a long contract but they have no need to rush a trade for him, and have no one to replace him.
We've been pleading for a top 4 RHD for a number of years now. At the moment we only have 1 signed for next year and that's Zaitsev.
I assume Rielly, Muzzin and Dermott are the 3 LHD next year. |
