So is Babcock done? 50 milion is a ton of cash and it was rumored a lot of guys in Detroit didn't like paying for him not sure how true that is but Matthew's doesn't seem to care for him
- Upstate_isles

It’s true.

Fair enough. Got to be on the ice to make a difference. Don't need anymore cheerleaders. He should know better.

Of all the fingers to point, I would point it at Babcock. He may have to go into hiding for a few days/weeks. I didn't understand his deployment choices but I don't watch the leafs much so maybe he likes to 'spread out his scoring'. I hate that idea and saying. Load up like the Stars and Avalanche do. Nothing to lose in game 7.

- bloatedmosquito

I have ten fingers to point, and am happy to also use my pen!s if neccessary.

Babcock will certainly suffer the wrath of the Wedgie.

He’s been awful this year. Showed a bit more in the playoffs. Played a little more physical and had to play with 2 anchors.

At the end of the day we can be pissed but he’s 22 (?) and you can’t give up on someone so early when he is a great player with some bad habits.

- bryant

His compete level and heart are frightening though. He's got skill, but he seemed disinterested and afraid, and that's dangerous.

. The time to trade him is gone. It would have been before how useless he has proven to be.....
- aminnes

Yep. CAnt trade him now. I was saying they should have traded him instead of giving in to his ridiculous demands...

Have to keep him and hope he has a great year next year, then trade his arse

We have Bracco, skilled but small, how much is that going to help the fourth line.

He needs to be slotted on the second or third line.

Sand paper and some skill, we have Marchment.

Engvall is big but not a grit player, he has talent.

Then there’s that Russian kid they took second overall that i believe is coming over but not ready yet.

- LeafMan

Best top 6 for the Leafs next year is:

Hyman Matthews Bracco
Simmonds or some other grinding player (doesn't matter about the skill level) Tavares Marner

marner
hyman
tavares
matthews
kadri

5 legit top6 fw's - issue is that 3 of them are centers.
before this season i said leafs need an upgrade on lw to play with matthews - or play kadri there.
kadri without the minutes nor top opposition isnt as good imo - he deserves top6 minutes.

trade johnsson and nylander.
get a guy like faksa for 3rd line c and play kapanen and moore on third line.
brown and gauthier on 4th line good as well.

Ya, that’s the thing with Bracco. SMALL... do we need another high skilled small player? SO we can play Auston less? If you can dump guys like Willy, then keep Bracco in the AHL another year for the future...
- Hockey_Reverend

Put Bracco with Matthews next year. He’s a skilled passer. Add someone to play the Hyman role on the other wing.

Yep, if you don’t have that extra compete and ‘gear’ for the playoffs you wont survive teh NHL playoffs.

I think that they're looking at Marchment to make the team next year. Size and toughness. They're also looking at a 24 year old Russian that's 6' 2" and lead his KHL team in scoring.

Pretty much true but that’s cuz nothing gets us endeared to the Leafs. The Jets don’t get the hate other Canadian teams get. We all get it the Leafs have a huge following but the rest of us are tired of hearing about the Leafs & the over saturation of press they get.

Freddie needs a better backup to lighten his load. Cap problems are coming but nothing that cannot be overcome. The D needs a makeover but has good pieces already. My question is will Dubas stand pat pretty much or shuffle up the roster? Plenty of offence but lacking depth of PO type players.

- Nighthawk

Zero chance he satys pat, but i'll put my money on growing more young players internally. We cannot get expensive free agents.

I'll also put my money on more Euro league guys coming over to try their luck...which is not all that great since they're softies, but hey, seasons are still required to get to playoffs.

I don’t want a whipping boy though

I want the team to be relatively without faults.

Matthews should’ve played 22 mins. It’s Game 7.
- Steven_Seagull

Then he would be minus 4.

He was -3 and it was Boston's bottom 6 doing the scoring.

Why does Marner not feel any wrath. He did Richard after the shot block. That was a long time ago.

Tavares signed for this moment.

He's got 1 goal (an empty netter in Game 1).

This is the Zach Hyman children's book in the making.

- JohnFergusonJr

Well, he scored but that backcheck on the 3rd goal....horrible....
