Agreed. He got a 7 game look at the NHL level after putting up 82 points in 70 games with Wilkes Barre. - PittsPens
Yeah but another team could have picked him up and they did not......31 other teams agreed with the Pens assessment. Shame would have been great to work out.

Such an enigma. You'd think that a bottom dweller would at least sniff an over PPG AHL youngster out just for the sheer potential. I wonder what the hell went wrong there.

If I had to guess, he was one of those guys who's an AHL star but can't hack it at the NHL, got frustrated, and went home. Or he was told he was going to be sent back to the AHL, got mad, and went home.

Gotta be it. No way you put up those numbers and just not get another chance unless you close the door yourself. I mean, NHL GMs aren't super smart, but there's no way 30 guys pass on those numbers.
Just hoping they don't have a problem sending him to the AHL if he proves he can't play in the NHL. Riikola should have played most of the season down there, but mysteriously spent most of the season with the big club.
I haven’t read through the comments so maybe someone caught it already: if the point conversion is 0.54:1 and he was a point per gamer over there you would want to extrapolate that over the course of the entire season. 82*0.54=44 points. So he was a little under that pace, call it 41 points which is 5th among Penguin forwards (although at a pace similar to that of Rust/Hornqvist on a MUCH cheaper contract)
Blueger’s a good start there. Signing a dude like Ennis like we talked about yesterday would go a solid distance in that regard as well. - Victoro311
Something that was nice about this year from Ennis was that he contributed seeing actual 4th line minutes. But he also had 5 PPP, is he going to get any PP time in Pitt moving forward? I don’t see why Blueger wouldn’t be effective given PP2 time. I would rather let him audition there. What’s concerning about Ennis is also his 14.8 sh% and he was also a drag on the possession front
Or realistic. I dont believe anyone knew of this player before we signed him. - Guile
I'm sure his friends, family, teammates, childhood chums, neighbors, fellow members of his league, past coaches, and other acquaintances are quite familiar with him and his accomplishments.

Bring back Eric Tangradi. Offensive monster in junior - bochangs
He was going to be the next Bertuzzi.
I remember in the late 90’s/early 2000’s the fixation was getting a true Power Forward. Tkachuk was rumored to be close, but the Pens never seemed to replace guys like Tocchet and Stevens.

Talking about Bertuzzis, Tyler Bertuzzi seems to be a nice player.
