Happy Anniversary !! 3 years ago you scored your last playoff goal on home ice. Be very proud. Your best player beats up Cabbies and is an (alleged) rapist. Makes me laugh when a parent gives a child a Kane jersey- probably one of the worst role models in the World. You must all be very proud.

I've been to Nashville for a game 6 times and had a great time. But I'm just as much into the music as the game. We have never had an issue, but we don't drink ourselves stupid and run our mouths. It's the "we're awesome, you suck" bandwagon fans that ruin it for most and every team that has a bit of success has them. Especially here in Chicago. Y'all have a good thing going down there, best of luck moving forward.

The Preds have plenty of cringeworthy things, like the "you suck" chant, the banner raising (other teams do the regular season champs thing but it really is dumb), etc. The fang fingers is the dumbest. From day one that was just plain stupid. In some ways I think these have taken on a life of itself with a lot of the bandwagon fans since the cup run.

At least Nashville doesnt play that annoying Chelsea Dagger song when they score a goal.

I love Paul as a PA announcer, but as a blogger... Meh, I'd prefer an actual sports journalist who can criticize the organization without having to worry about losing his day job. Problem is, I don't think those guys are exactly lining up to join Hockeybuzz, so we probably just need to be thankful we've got one. Carolina and Dallas don't, and I'm not completely sure, but I think one or two other teams don't have a full time blogger either.

I have read throughout the season your comments regarding the Preds. I think you provide good insight and a common sense approach.
You should do it.

Ha, thanks, but nah. I've seen the way these guys get treated. All joking aside though, I know the posters here kid the bloggers a lot about whether they're actually journalists or not, but most of them have been around the game of hockey for a long time. I'm not arrogant enough to think I'm anymore qualified to talk hockey than anyone else Ek has hired to work here whether I personally like their work or not. I'll stick with posting the occasional semi-coherent post to their work now and then. Personally, I don't dislike Paul, I just feel his relationship with the team forces a certain narrative of fluff and tendency to cheer lead that I don't always agree with. And he could stand to do a little less barking at people who have valid criticisms of the team. Otherwise, having Paul is much better than having nothing. If not for his blogs, where else would we do all our whining and complaining?

Thanks for bringing that up. I wanted too, but I try to avoid addressing Trolls directly. Not worth the time and effort. Funny how some of them like to omit certain facts when they don't fit their narrative... Gee who does that sound like?

I appreciate you sharing this perspective - just hearing one fan admit to this is helpful.

For what it’s worth - I’m done with the Hawks goal song (Chelsea Dagger) - it’s time for something different.

- Chief4Feathers

Yep. Hawk fan here and I’m so over that song. But I still dig the opening riff to Stranglehold when they come onto the ice to start a game.

Thanks for posting something positive. It's a good town and the atmosphere at Bridgestone is generally one that's quite fun for all.

Went to a game by myself in 2003. Walked up and down the main strip (don’t recall the street name) and had a beer at about 4-5 different bars that had live music (not a country fan but the live music was cool), ended up at a sports bar and chatted it up with a local about hockey. Dude was pretty cool and knew quite a bit (not just preds but all players and teams). I’d like to think that’s more of a representation of the preds fan base than the douche nozzles like vopash and predsfan who are clearly severely inbred. Poor guys.

For the most part they are. Every fanbase of every sport has that small very vocal minority that makes the entire fanbase look like raging jerk wads. I know that not every Hawks fan lives in their mother's basement snorting string cheese all day while listening to Nickelback, but I've run into a few that would make a more cynical person feel that way, especially when they've had a few. Nashville still has a few of those bandwagon fans who haven't quite learned that the NHL doesn't revolve around Nashville, but we're slowing getting them up to speed.

I'm pretty sure that every fan base has "those" fans. Bandwagoners tend to ruin it. Since the cup run, the Preds have plenty of those too. Not as many as Chicago or Detroit back in the day, but they're definitely an issue. All you can do is try not to engage in that sort of stuff, but they eventually pull you in.

I prefer cheese whiz because the consistency is easier to inhale, but yes, Nickelback is my jam.

Squatchy - all bs and trolling aside - you really should be the blogger for the Preds if you could swing it time-wise. You’ve been calling it pretty straight on this team for a while. It would help for the Pred fanbase to read a more critical analysis of their team as opposed to thinly-veiled propaganda.
