No one who plays 11 seasons in the NHL "sucks at hockey". In fact, no player who makes it to pro hockey in any capacity sucks at hockey. Without even knowing anything about you, I can virtually guarantee that Wayne Simmonds, a six-time 24+ goal scorer and two-time 30+ goal scorer in the world's best league, is better at his profession than you are in yours. Even in your avocation as an internet troll, your contribution was rather second-rate.

made my day

give us a trade scenario you think the Flyers would pull the trigger on to fill one of their holes?

I can see Simmonds getting a decent 4 year deal 4-5M per.
I’m also rooting for him but not on the Flyers. I would welcome him back openly with a desk job after he retires.

I agree that intangibles can help a team but you can't place that value over speed, skill and youth. The Flyers aren't in a position to bring Simmonds back in my opinion.

4th line role only, that is that last piece they will need to fill and they have so many other options...

I could definitely see him having a bounce back season, and I hope he does. Probably feels like he has something to prove. Hoping the Flyers have moved on though.

I agree, he pots 22-28 goals if he can find the right team

I hope the Flyers stay away from Simmonds. No need to spend $$$ on a forward most likely on the downside of his career.

Talk about just having bad timing with contracts. simmonds took the security of a 6 year/23,850,000 contract coming off of 45 game 15-17-32 season. Just bad timing for him. after signing the new contract he potted 4 straight 28-32 goal seasons. and now that he is a UFA he is coming off of multiple injury riddled production declining years.
- nastyflyergirl

he has signed a couple deals now that were considered bargains.....you might be right about the timing issue....

Yeah, it's time to move on and stop living in the past.

Love the guy to pieces, but he's not an ideal 3rd-liner with the demands of the league now.

With some of the top teams bowing out early it could be interesting in regards to trades if they make a move or two to reshape the roster.

I'd like to add some talent, I know he struggled in the past month or so but a guy like Ehlers with skill and speed would be a nice add. He's got a longer contract with potentially some risk but at the same time great upside.

Wow, crazy playoffs this year, all the favorites bowing out early. If Washington loses the Cup is up for grabs to a lot of teams who’ve never won it.

Seeing some mocks that have the Flyers taking Cole Caufield in the draft.
Thought? Intriguing that’s for sure. He could definitely be called a sniper. With some of the bigger bodies we have potential on the way on the next year or two it’s worth a shot.

I feel like the winner of that Vegas/Sharks series will get the cup. My predicition was a rematch of last year with Vegas taking it. Caps dealt quite a blow with that Oshie injury.

I'd take him at 10.

Question. What if Podkolzin drops and is there at 10 as well? I have seen him drop in some mocks and have read some things teams are worried about his russian factor and not coming over when teams want.

Who says no?

To Nashville: Voracek, Gostisbehere
To Philadelphia: Arvidsson, Subban

Just curious.

It's almost the same cap wise, I'd do it. That Arvidson is a warrior and we could use a talneted right shot Dman. Top pair of Provy and Subban would be legit.

Kind of reshapes each teams roster but doesn't look like one team is really getting over on another.

with the way his stint with the preds went, and his subsequent playoffs, i think simmer sees the writing on the wall. that said, he also clearly loved Philly and Philly loves him. He still owns his house in Philly and I wouldn't be surprised if he continued to have a home in the Philadelphia area when his playing days are over.

That said, I would 100% be in favor of signing Simmonds with a few caveats:

1. He realizes he isn't the same player he was in years past, wont be on the first or second scoring lines, wont be playing 15-18 mins a game, may not even get PP time.

2. The guy though is still a solid skater, still a big body, has definitely become more disciplined in situations as his time has gone on, and can certainly still be an agitator. Think of a slightly smaller Ryan Reeves, with a million percent better hockey IQ and hockey skill than Reeves. Perhaps shifting his focus from offense to defense/PK, he could fill a spot on the team as that, plus a vocal leader, a grinder, a shot blocker, a do whatever it takes to win for the guys type player, ala what Lappy did pretty much his whole career when he realized he wouldnt be the offensive force he was in juniors, in the NHL.

3. He becomes an invaluable source to guys like Lindblom, Ratcliffe, Farabee, perhaps even guys like Twarynski and Bunnaman, giving his years of experience to them how to be a power forward and play the right way.

4. Most importantly, accepting a hometown deal, small AAV, maybe a longer term, to ensure he retires a flyers. I am thinking something along the lines of 3 years, 6 mil, I think that's fair. We have the cap for it, and to be honest, this contract will basically be what the cap goes up every year, maybe less.

Thoughts?
