Rumor has it that Subban has chronic back issues so that, coupled with his salary is a pass from me. - HeeroYuy
I actually think Ellis is a more realistic target and more the type of Dman we would need. |

I would definitely rather target him over Subban. 6.25 per year for 8 years is waaay more manageable. And, according to some Pred's fans, he way underwhelmed this year so he could be a good buy-low target. I also would look into Ekholm, as he is more of a traditional defender but can still move the puck adequately, and might cost less.
Adding either of those two without subtracting Ghost, would be a win in my book. Not sure if Pred's would want futures or roster players/prospects on the cusp though. |

Ghost for Ryan Ellis? Is that even an upgrade? |

The grass isn't always greener on the other side. Ghost is treated poorly around here. |

So we should trade Ghost for another Ghost of lesser offensive talent? - xShoot4WarAmpsx
Subban at 9 million for what he brings is a no for me. Ghost is under a nice contract but of course needs to bounce back. on the flip side Ardvisson is on a nice contract and Jake of course is making 8 million. I see where the trade is coming from. I just cringed at what I see from Subban making 9 million. i don't know. |

What? if we don't re-sign Hartman we won the trade? We won a fourth rounder - ClaudeFather
Hartman is a RFA, why would you think he wouldn't be re-signed? |

You never know, Fletch and AV talk, he doesn't see him as a fit. Labeling the Simmonds trade as a win now is a little foolish is all i'm saying. Hell, we could resign him and the guy plays like crap or finds AV's doghouse. |

My apologies. Ghost can be very dynamic, i just view Subban as an upgrade and a left top pair right shot which we need. |

I don't know. However, I did find this statement by Alain Vigneault at his introduction presser to be interesting along similar lines:
"A lot of those - bmeltzer[successful] teams, the third component you have is older veterans that might not be able to perform at the same way that they once were, but bring an intangible that’s really important to the chemistry of a dressing room. If you can work with those players, show them the respect that they deserve through the years in the league, they still can be a big asset to a team and an organization," Vigneault said.
When he was off-podium, Vigneault added that the intangibles element is something he does not know yet with the Flyers. He said if Chuck Fletcher feels they need to add someone along those lines, it can be a positive for the team regardless of what the stats alone might suggest relative to that player.
If Simmonds’ agent approached the Flyers and told the Flyers that his client would like to return at a reasonable cost, I don’t see why we wouldn’t look at it. A declining Simmonds at 2 or 3 million for one year, why wouldn’t you consider that option unless you have a better option?
We’re desperately in need of grit. I think you can safely put Simmonds on the second PP without argument, which the second unit does need a net front presence.
Some will give the lazy answer and say JvR is exactly like Simmonds, but that’s not true. JvR might surprise you with a hit every 40th game but JvR for the most part in an uninspired soft player, who isn’t gritty at all. JvR is more skill than power. |

He will be extended or traded. He's an RFA and they won't lose his rights for nothing. |

Well, you are actually only betting on one. The other has a reasonable cap friendly contract already. |

Lol true, let me re-phrase. One is under contract and worth betting on having a bounce back season and the other I wouldn't offer a contract with the hope being he bounces back. |
