I'm not saying Vesey is great, but I think we somewhat undervalue him. He consistently scores close to 20 goals. Is his trade value alot? No. I don't think he's worth nothing though.
- 2sticks1puck

you know, if Vesey was still in the middle of his entry level deal and about to become a RFA it would be one thing, but he has one year left and then he's a UFA

I think his trade value is probably at absolute zero now

if he stays with the Rangers, has a decent season, he may be a decent deadline piece but I dont see why anyone would want to trade for him right now

Never made sense to me...why does it depend on the nest round still? Since the Jets are out shouldn't it factor in when they lost in the playoffs?

the 4 conference finals teams pick 28-29-30-31

that's it, bottom line, every year, the 4 conference finals teams pick the final 4 picks of first round

The stats say, he's a better Charlie Coyle who's younger. I'll give you that it helped Coyle that he can play center and is better defensively, but there is no reason to say that some team couldn't use Vesey and wouldn't give up something in a trade for him. The other thing that I will give you is that given the return, Vesey might be more valuable to us than whatever we'd get back in a trade.

So then why is the Jets pick still dependent on this next round? Shouldn't all the teams that got eliminated in round 1 already know where they are picking?

no because if all 4 teams who make conference final end up being lower seeds than the Jets were, it keeps pushing their pick up

the highest it can get pushed up is to #18

that's what I believe, I think Rangers have no choice but to stick it out with him

who wants to trade anything of value for Vesey at the draft when players just as good as he is are available for free July 1st?

I guess you are lucky where you are at there isn't alot of red tape. I won't get into all the specifics because it really isn't interesting, but the last server we had replaced was a new one that had just been sitting around for 5 years because no one did all the necessary approvals and undertaken the process of making sure everything was backed up and functional. Sometimes the amount of sign offs around here to do minor stuff drives me to drink.

One of my previous employers took this to a new level. We had a guy leave the company and the person that sat in the cube across from him wanted to move to his cube for the window seat. It took over a month to get approved, and needed the signature of a vice president. That's why nothing gets done in corporate America.

in 2014, the Rangers finished 12th overall in standings, but the first rounder they ended up trading to Tampa for MSL was 28th overall in the first round because they made the finals

I actually sort of like the cube. It's all well and good to be open when it's a busy day. When it's slow and I'm on here talking to you guys, the semi-privacy helps.

I don't think anyone makes a play for him at the draft, but I think in this UFA, it falls off pretty fast after the top 5 or so UFA. I don't think Vesey is as far behind the mid-tier guys as you think he is. Again, he's not great, but he's better than most Ranger fans give him credit for. His cap hit is actually pretty friendly too.

If people give Krieder a pass for tailing off because we gutted the team, Vesey kind of needs a pass for that too. Vesey is who he is, he can chip in some offense, but we know he isn't good enough to generate his own.

Vesey didn't tail off though

Vesey had 1 goal and zero assists in 19 games from March 1st until end of season

that's falling off cliff

At least two of the Staal brothers have scored important playoff goals against Holtby in their careers.
For one, Jordan's tying early 3rd period goal to eventually force OT in Game 7 last night, (which Holtby should have stopped in having a clear view), along with brother Marc in 2012 in OT.

Marc Staal's OT GWG against Holtby in Game 5 of that Rangers series win in 7 games, came off a point shot immediately off a face off, and was the benefit of the second 2:00 of a double minor for high sticking committed by former Cap, Joel Ward with under 30 seconds left in the 3rd with the Caps leading by a 2-1 score. That resulted in Brad Richards first forcing OT by scoring the tying goal with under 10 seconds remaining in regulation on the first 2:00 of that double minor, prior to Marc's game winning PPG about 1:30 or so into OT.
