oh, the parade will be planned...
then the boys will think they already won the Cup and get swept by Columbus - BestRapperAlive
In all honesty..from an outsider who hates the Leafs. If you guys win tomorrow night, there is no team left that can stop you. Columbus "won their cup" by sweeping Tampa. |

does anyone who was calling Matthews a playoff choker or whatever feel dumb now? - senstroll
LOL why?
When he was called out he was not producing, last year and the first two games this playoffs.
NOW, he has been producing, so he is no longer being called out.
See how that works?

a couple games or even 1 series is not a big enough sample to really judge a player. and also he was being called other poop, mentally weak, doesnt care etc..
playoff series against 1 team is tough, matchups matter. Last year it was basically only Matthews the Bruins had to worry about, so they shut him down pretty good. this year Tavares helps...just a little
but carry on if you are one of those fans |

IMO, last year against Boston was a wake up call for Matthews. This year, he has handled himself much better. In the first two games this year, even though he has 0 points, he did have 8 shots on net. Matthews has been so much better this year, and will only get better.. |

Sorry, I criticized Matthews for not producing, when he wasn't producing (go figure).
For you to take someone's observation and conclude a whole bunch of other stuff is being "said" about him, well that's your problem.
My point was pretty (frank)ing clear, and has always been clear. He has the ability to be dominant. We have all seen that. I have ALWAYS acknowledged it. If you haven't noticed that there have been games, post-season and regular-season, where he really doesn't do much then, again, your problem.
For the record, it was all over the media also questioning whether or not he had to step it up, whether it was a concern etc. You may not agree with opinions in the media, but what it means is that someone else, besides a few of us here, were noticing and asking questions.
You should ask yourself why you are so upset that someone criticized Matthews for not producing, when he wasn't producing.

OHL is stupid. - GreatGigInTheSky
I mean, he probably shouldn't have gone into meltdown, but he's right, he was run over. How would that goal possibly be allowed?
Funny, even at the very end of the clip, why is that guy coming in and giving him a bump way after the whistle too?

Especially those that you've set high expectations for. Why would they be so high if they didn't have the potential to do exactly that?
Liking a player while acknowledging how great he can be and criticizing a sample of games are not mutually exclusive. |

Gee, another thing I have maintained all along. I have said many times that as he gets older, bigger, more mature, he has the potential to be dominant. Some people here are so uptight that as soon as they perceive criticism they ignore everything else and then start drawing incorrect conclusions.

what about 16-17 when he had 4 goals in 6 games against the #1 team?
I think he has been pretty good and consistent throughout out, just the results vary a lot in the playoffs depending on teams and macthups. a hero one series a lame duck the next |

Who elke here has Matthews socks or bought their son a Matthews Jersey at Christmas, when has asked for McDavid
I bought a Marner jersey. While Tavares and Marner have disappeared offensively, at least they are doing a good job shutting down what I think is the best line in hockey. Boston's big line has had some success but it is not reasonable to think they can be totally shut down.
... before anyone mentions that I should have given Matthews the same break for last year's performance, the fact is he didn't shut them down at all. He got trounced... because he is till very young and had nowhere near their experience... another thing I said, repeatedly.

But but but... Arya got Gendry to make her detachable bo staff with dragon glass on it. The dude that makes all the weapons for GoT said it'll have huge significance. Not sure how it's any different than the other dragon glass weapons though
And why all this useless dragonglass being put everywhere. Use those damn dragons to take out most of the wights... they can't be reanimated again so that's the best way. I feel like their strategies are pointless. But need characters to be killed off so I guess I get it..
Next week gonna be insane, 82 minutes of WAR!

I think you're a little out to lunch on this. I don't think he needed a wakeup call. He had the second most shots in the series, behind only Pastrnak, despite drawing a tough matchup.
He was snakebit, nothing more. It wasn't a lack of effort, he wasn't playing badly, it was just a lack of results. |

It wasn't an attempt to "single you out."
Merely stating that he has been a lot better this year then last.. Even if you include the 2 games without a point to start this series, he was still getting good chances. I only see him getting better. Would be great if he scores a hat trick tomorrow, but we need other players on this team to step up to win this series.. Unless RJ, helps us..
