Avs in 6. Tough call with the major penalty. That crosscheck wasn't a major in itself. Pavelski was way off balance cuz of the faceoff.. then Stastny shoves him again and he takes a weird fall. Do you split the 5 minute major between Stastny and Eakin? Obviously no.. so you call a 5 minute major??? in an elimination game?? Reminds me of you know what.. I won't say it.. I can't say it. I'd be pretty upset if I was a Vegas fan. Hope Joe is ok.

I’m glad the sharks won, but it seems kinda bullpoop to come up with a 5 minute major on that cross check. It was a bit of a freak event Pavs ended up getting hurt with the second hit from Stasny.

The penalty should have been on Stastny for the reckless play, ie, slamming him down. That's where he really got hurt.

Idk. I’m not sure Stasny did anything other then brace himself against Pavelski falling into him while Stasny was skating out of the face off. I don’t think he’s trying to knock him down or doing anything reckless. To me this looks like a 2 minute cross check by Eakins and that’s it. Pretty devastating one for sure and maybe a double minor if you want to give him an unsportsmanlike or some poop. Really Pavs is facing him, it’s nit from behind or to the head. Just a devastating blow.

It was reckless because Stastny applied force to him on the way down. A horizontal collision would have been fine, but because Stastny exerted force to his upper body, Pavelski's legs flew up from underneath him from said force, which inevitably caused his head to hit the ice.

I don't have problems with recklessness getting called. This is no different than a stray high stick hitting someone in the nose and him getting a double minor (even if it's a follow-through on a shot). I don't mind that they call major penalties on reckless plays whether they were intentional or not.

People crying for replays would not have been satisfied with the call had there been a replay because they would have simply pulled Stastny for the slam (roughing) instead.

Edit: but yea... Vegas in with 93 and Montreal out with 96 lol... no sympathy from me.
