Her record just went into the memory hole.
I left the USSR not to ever experience this sh#t again. sad. - missingmike
Seriously, though, is her memory really all that important? I have to say, I never much cared for her singing, and certainly never believed in a correlation between her song being played and outcomes on the ice.
Find some old records of hers if you really enjoy her stuff and want to personally keep her memory going.

What many of you are missing is that her song was SATIRE. The crazies on the Left pushed through their anti-American agenda yet again without anyone in a position of responsibility using more than two brain cells to suggest that they were going a step too far.
This whole situation is abominable and I am done with Comcast and the Flyers organization. Guess I'll be hanging out with Shawn Tilger... |

Nyet, tovarisch. The difference between Comcast Spectacor and The Ministry of Truth is that Comcast does not control every archive of Kate Smith and cannot throw her down the memory hole. They just won't have a statue and play one song at hockey games. You and anyone else are free to enjoy her work at your leisure. Including watching video of her singing at the Spectrum before each game, if you should so desire.
The comparison you make when you liken Comcast's decision to the propaganda and oppression found in the Soviet Union is not well-founded. |

I just have this feeling the veteran d man we add is spurgeon. There were talks of us discussing him at the deadline. Hes a fletcher guy and seemingly would be a good fit for vigneault system. Hayes is the center that seems writing on the wall-ish. He signed with vigneault in 2014 out of all teams. He multiple times referenced he enjoyed playing for him. All just seems to make too much sense. Kruger could be the bottom 6 guy. Good vet leader. Strong possession and PK-er.
I dont trade #11. If were building this team right itll be our last chance for a lottery pick for a while. You take the pick to add another high end prospect to the system. Because at some point like all good teams do someone will want more than we can give them and we will need an ELC to replace him. We have 10 picks. Move a 2nd or later in a trade if you have to. We got Farabee at #14 and he looks like he could make the nhl next year at some point and contribute. We can definitely get a worthwhile player at 11. - Tfaehner
still would not mind Bouwmeester for one year, I think he is a FA, he is big, can still skate. I like how he played against the jets. I don't want to overspend or extend with a vet D, just need a short term plug with some playoff exp. unless there is a real good hockey trade for a 2-3 D man, I would take the cheap route. then get the C or at the very least a scoring winger.

Spurgeon is an excellent defender. Highly under rated while constantly taking on heavy defensive assignments and regularly facing other teams top lineups. Hes also right handed fairly young and on a good contract and he would likely be cheaper than a lot the big names. I also didnt propose giving up any our core young d for him. Hes a better defenseman and fit in my opinion than someone like trouba - Tfaehner
In my opinion, Spurgeon is not a better defenseman or fit that Trouba is.

Reasons ? I think spurgeon is excellent defensively, he commits next to no penalties ever, hes a leader and mentor, and he would cost half to get. Trouba imo is an over rated diva. |

Second year franchise already to the Cup Finals, following it up with another successful season. If Knights fans are livid, what should Flyers fans be?
Instead of watching playoff hockey, we are talking about a statue being removed of a person who died 35 years ago. |

Trouba is younger and a better player. I agree that Trouba would cost more to acquire because he is a better player. Trouba is a solid 2 way defenseman. |

I would argue that trouba is a more talented player. But for our situation and what I think we need on this team spurgeon is a better fit. But quite frankly I'd be happy with either acquisition. Assuming Myers sanheim provorov are still on our team |

I think he could be extended for 4 or 5 years. Hes right handed. Takes very few penalties. Has been the shut down defenseman for Minnesota getting all the top lines and heavy d zone starts. Hes more of a leader etc. And he has good puck skills something that fit ls vigneault system very well. I get everyone wants to make a splash for a legit top pairing guy but they cost a fortune. Spurgeon is a really solid 2 3.

The balance is strong. I dont think hagg has a long term future with us especially with vigneault. Ghost I want to be given a chance to play with vigneault before we trade him unless hes in a trade for a top line scorer or top pairing d man. |

A bit of an overreaction, my friend. It's just a statue.
Besides, I haven't seen one person attack her service to the country ... nor was the statue intended as a commemoration of her service to the country. - sirpaulj7
Ask her family if they think these actions are attacking her image and service to her country? I bet they say she's being attacked unfairly. Even our franchise icon bob Clarke came to her defence. |

During WW2 Kate traveled overseas more than 500,000 miles to entertain troops and raised over 600 million $ in war bonds. She won the highest civilian award, the Presidntial Medal Of Freedom.
After more than 3000 recordings 2 of them are being judged almost 90 years later. She has been labeled a racist with no opportunity to defend herself. This is the kind of purification of the record only seen before in fascist states.
Ask the stone thowers what they have done in their lives to help this country. Are their hearts really in a more pure and better place where they can judge others? Sleep well my brothers, sleep well. - Djapana
Fantastic post. She was part of the history of the franchise and it she's being omitted. Really, we need to go back and look at the background for every person who has a statue. Mount Rushmore? If we find one negative aspect of those presidents, they come down.
I wonder how interesting Rome would be if we got rid of all thingbs associated with Ancient Roman emperors who were not always nice guys.

I agree, he is a good player and I don't want to pay the price of a #2 D, it sounds like Spurgeon is a #2 D? what will the cost be ? At 29 it is a risk to sign him another 4 years, this league will continue to get faster and younger. At the right price I would like him, I agree Hagg will be traded, been saying that for a while now. I am still in the mindset of a Bouwmeester, short term.
I can see Spurgeon costing less than Trouba. Trouba being 25 is really good and I think the Jets will make a move after losing the first round. Plus the Jets have their work cut out for them on the cap, Trouba is an RFA, they have no 1st, 3rd, 6th or 7th picks this year.
