3.5 x 4 for Tanev seems like a dramatic overpayment. |

TC, agree with your outlook on the blueline: Jokiharju and one new add may be sufficient. If two new additions are made, then I would assume it's because (A) someone got traded, i.e. Gustafsson for a 1st rounder and/or high-end prospect, or (B) Jokiharju is in Rockford again next season. |

For your Vegas trade, I'd swap out Sikura and send Perlini instead:
To VGK: Perlini, Hayden, Forsling
To CHI: Eakin, McNabb
Would much rather have Sikura as he has proven he can give a consistent effort already and do so while playing a 200 foot game with offensive skills to boot. And if Perlini goes to Vegas, Gallant can get his butt in to gear to give a crap every shift. |

perlini is bigger faster and has a harder shot. he was 4th on the team in regard to EV goals per game. Sikura in 33 games had 0 goals. I would rather have perlini. If he gets it he has top line potential on a team that is neither very fast or big give me speed and size. Sikura has shown he belongs but will struggle to score as well as he can be knocked off the puck and cannot knock anyone off.
perlini is also a year younger then DS. |

Great, Eakin can win 2 more FOs over the course of a 100. Basically means he will win 5-10 more FOs than he loses. FOs should be the last thing a team looks at when deciding to acquire them
Take a look at his metrics. They are worrisome to me.

Yeah, yeah, its not everything but look at his CFRel%. Yeesh. Hawks need less guys in that position, not more. |

Guess you missed Perlini getting knocked off the puck easily no matter his size. Give me the guy who brings his effort every night. Has a clue on where to be on the ice.
Perlini is never going to achieve his potential. He is what he is at this point. Sikura brings a lot more to the table and provides a team with options of his usage.
Perlini can go or stay but people need to accept there is no magic potion to unlock his potential |

Beg to differ. Sikura actually engages on every shift and is willing to go to the tough areas to make plays no matter the size of the opponent. Yes, Sikura does get knocked down time to time but I've seen him win many 50/50 battles against guys who could just as easily knock him on his butt. Haven't really seen that from Perlini at all. Plus, the scoring will come for Sikura.
That said, if Perlini can improve this summer to consistently apply his skills, size, and speed, then I would love to have both him and Sikura in the lineup. That proposed Vegas trade could go down a number of ways so it doesn't need to include either 95 or 11. |

I'd rather wait. Everything you say is true, but he did play for the hapless Yotes. The coaches know if he's coachable. I'd like to see him with an off season of dedicating himself to core and leg strengthening. Speed and scoring at this level are rare and he has both of those abilities in him. |

I like Tanev as a 4th liner and even as a spot-duty 3rd liner but can't see him on the 1st line. Like Caggiula, he's not a true top 6 player that should be relied upon to play on the 1st or 2nd line for a full season.
However, I do get the argument that Toews and Kane may thrive if they have talented sh!t disturbers like Caggiula or Tanev on their line. What about Ferland instead? He has proven he can put up 20/20 numbers. |

I think the addition of our 3rd pick is going to change who we place at either line 1 wing or 3rd line center. I believe Hughes, Kappo, Cozens or Pods are all legit possibilities at #3. Honest choice is Cozens for #3 but funnier things have happened.
Cozens would be nice fit at 3rd line center with Kanin and Kubliak/Drake as his wings. With that said I would aim to sign Dzingle as LW on line 1. Tanev as some have said would be nice addition to #4 line. Add Highmore and Kampf and you have well round group of forwards. Trading Artem and acquiring a top 4 defense (separate deals) would make it a great off season. Expect a deal with Florida. |

I just read that CSKA just won over in Russia, with Grigorenko playing a big part. He always had the potential but always young/immature when he was forced into NHL. High expectations as 12th overall pick. At 24yrs old and in his prime...wonder what price tag would be for the big 6'3" C? Might look good between Kahun & Kubalik? 3yr 1-1.5 mil a year? Just an option I thought of, slightly different than Panarin coming over; since he wasn't drafted. |

Perlini has the skill set to have a career as a top 6 forward in the NHL.
Although Sikura has an overall sound game, but he’s not a goal scorer. He’s going to be a career 3rd-4th liner & play PK.
Both are valuable, but I’d keep Perlini if forced to choose. |

Sikura has scored everywhere else he had played - including Rockford.
Now, maybe he is a “triple A ball player” who can’t hit major league pitching - but I would guess he will find his stroke and be a 20-25 goaler. He gets up 8.4 SOG per 60 - Kane gets 11.2; AdB was at 9.09; Strome was at 6.4. So he gets enough shots up to score - not like Kane or DeBrincat, but enough.
He also controls the puck, sees the ice, makes plays, gets the puck, and plays a responsible 200 foot game better than Perlini.
I’d keep both, too, but would choose Sikura if forced into a choice. |

Justin i would expand the trade and add a 5th and get reeves or carrier. Still would not give up on hayden i still think there is potential with him. Trade to boston that involves AA would not work they Charlie Coyle who could play center but maybe AA and Perlin to a cap strap team for a young 2nd and prospect. Tanev is not a top six forward 3 years at 3 million per year sounds right. Plus i would see what Simmons would want maybe 2 years for 5 million. Hypothetical lines:
Saad toews kane
Dcat strome simmods
Tanev eakin kauhn
Caggiulla kampf reeves/ carrier
Kublick
Keith joki
McNabb gus
Murphy Seabrook
Veteran d man
Crawford
Delia or ward if Crawford status is not good

I agree, I too think Sikura at this point is the player to keep of the two for the reasons you state. But man am I hoping Perlini is a late bloomer who can consistently play like he did for that two-three week period where he was one of the best players on the ice in those games. |

Fair point. To me, he hasn't shown anything to indicate he’s a goal scorer. It’s instincts that they’re born with, not learned. Kane has it, Dcat too. Saad, for instance, doesn’t. It’s accuracy, scoring from tough angles, in traffic, setting up the other D as screens, finding space, controlling time, etc. |
