If Dallas wants to sign Zuc, they'll call the Rangers and work out different terms/create new trade to make it happen without losing the 1st rounder. They may have already discussed like Gorton did with Boston in the subsequent McQuaid trade. - WineryDog
Not sure I follow you:
Are you saying Dallas won't give us the first rounder but they will agree to take Staal, Smith or Shatty off of our hands in a deal?? |

Actually if they traded Kreider, Vesey and Vlad; adding in the the 3.5 million dollar cap increase, that would give the Rangers 31.9 million in cap space. Rough estimate. - tomburton99
That’s the key. Gotta dump off some guys, whether it’s Stinky, Strome, Fast, Kreider, whoever. Who in the league would have upwards of 8 guys on ELCs playing regularly? Can’t be many
You know eventually they’re gonna spend like cookoo birds, it’s just a matter of when |

Who else would you spend it on tho? He’s not old at all. Plays center. I know it’s only a few games, but he looks awesome right now. |

I mean I'd be the last person to like this move.
I want another year of trying to get as many young players as possible and then start to spend. But to say they wouldn't have enough money if they traded Kreider, Vesey and Vlad is wrong. TPC and MDW are dumb, forgive them. |

I mean I don't see this team competing for a cup next season so why not save some of that cap space for when its needed down the road? I would go after Panirin but if you are giving him 11million per no way i am dishing out like 8-9 for Duchene |

I think they’re getting very close to contending. It all comes down to Chytil, Krav and Kakko. And shesty too I guess. If they’re all what is advertised, were looking at a dynamic offense. Defense is the issue tho, I’ll give ya that
Edit: competing not contending |

After two more years they have barely anything on the books. It’s really this and next year you’d need to finagle something, but nothing to crazy |

I’ve never heard of this Game of Thrones show. I imagine it’s a real life game show when you become a king or some sort. I could be wrong |

Funny enough, my buddy and his wife just moved into a new house and I went over there Saturday and they were sitting around watching "A Double Shot at Love" which is some sort of hilarious dating show with Pauly D and Vinny from Jersey Shore. It was bad. Really, really bad. |

You may have a ton of guys on ELCs in your scenario, but the bill would be due really quickly. After next year you only have Georgie and Boo (you have to sign Buch and Lemieux this offseason) However, in 2 seasons you'd have Lias, Chytil, Hajek and Howden all coming due. In 3 years you have Kravs, Kakko, and Shesty due. That doesn't even include if you sign someone like Buch to a bridge deal that would come due again.
In other words, you commit to so many free agents, you'd find yourself in a giant cap crunch sooner than later no matter how much space you clear out. |

So let’s never sign anyone, I get it lol.
We have the same rules as all these other teams last I checked. Besides, I’ll worry about all that after we won our 4th cup in a row |

I'm not about never signing anyone, you just can't structure your team where 1/2 the team is on ELCS. I get that if we win the cup it would be worth it, but as bad as Toronto and Tampa's future cap situations are, it would make ours that much worse in a couple seasons. I can almost guarantee that Panarin and Duchense are going to want some kind of NMC/NTC in their contracts, you'd have no real way to clear cap once the s hit the fan so to speak.
TLDR, signing one big name UFA is sustainable, paying top money for 2 is not. Sign Panarin and then maybe offer 4-5 million for a midtier guy. |

Uhhh, idk. It's pretty brutal. I'd say like like in real life it's 18. But some of the scenes hint at some stuff that will make you feel pretty uncomfortable. |
