That is why I think it's almsot a certainty they don't re-sign him. Because if the get to the WCF this year, they aren't gonna give up another 1st in better draft class. - tomburton99
I think Dallas re-signs him regardless
dont you you remember earlier in the year where their owner called out Benn and Seguin?
team chemistry was abysmal, now, everyone there loves Zucc, he's been the glue that has brought those guys together, I think it's worth it to Dallas to keep him.

I don't necessarily believe that, I think it will depend on how they gauge that pick. If they are 1 and done, they could walk away without giving up any first round picks, Dallas would probably think they were not that close and wouldn't want to give us a pick that could be late teens or early twenties next year.
However, if they make the WCF and lose, maybe they do think they are close. If Zucc plays well in the playoffs, maybe they think they can win the cup, and giving up the last pick of the first wouldn't be a big deal to them in their minds. I know they were able to get rid of a cap dump as well, but don't forget Brayden Schenn just got 2 firsts in a trade a few years ago. I don't think Zucc's value is that far off of that. It also helps the Rangers that if they did make it that far, the first this year is a sunk cost already to them, and really they would only be worried about one 1st (the 2020 one).
What would be interesting is if they somehow won the cup this year and Zucc played well. You'd think they'd have to resign him in that case, but you could also see them saying thanks for the cup and cutting bait.

Just putting this out there:
How many more goals does Cole Caufield have to score before whispers start for him going 2nd overall?
Mind you ---- I don't want him over Kakko, I just acknowledge that others may start soon... |

If Dallas wants to sign Zuc, they'll call the Rangers and work out different terms/create new trade to make it happen without losing the 1st rounder. They may have already discussed like Gorton did with Boston in the subsequent McQuaid trade. |

There is no way you can fit Duchene and Panirin with Staal, Shatty, Smith and Hank on the roster still |

Maybe he is going to change the narrative in Columbus, but Duchene has not won anything in his life on any of the teams he's been on. No way I'd want that salary even if we could make it fit. |

Seeing what some of these other teams end up pulling off, I find that hard to believe. We’d have 8 regulars making under a million bucks each |

Actually if they traded Kreider, Vesey and Vlad; adding in the the 3.5 million dollar cap increase, that would give the Rangers 31.9 million in cap space. Rough estimate. |
