you asked why I keep mentioning him...he was mentioned in the context of available veteran head coaches, along with Todd Richards and michel therien...

I also said i'd rather have ruff than any of those

- Michael Pachla

I don't want Ruff either, this next coach needs to be a " statement" this team is bad in all area's and they need a Torts or Sullivan type coach. People can complain all they want about McLellan but 8 out of 10 years he made the playoffs and for this team, that's a damn good start.

I get that, but Lehner, in his public comments since leaving, has largely framed himself as a victim of circumstance in a bad situation. I haven't seen him own his role on those poopty teams. I know our defense sucked, and having trotz coach his D certainly helps, but he wasn't a passive observer of a poopty team. He made the team worse with his behavior. Again, I'm happy for him as a person, but he has a large role in this

he found a home...like kane...like o'reilly...and they've become the players they were traded for

You don't want a veteran coach, you don't want an AHL coach, you don't want a new coach. Who coaches in your perfect scenario?
- CoHo_to_B-Lo

Never said I didn't want a veteran coach, where you getting that from

I would go a lot further with Lehner. Let's just say that anyone who has a drinking problem, beats it, then blames the franchise they let down for their transgressions can get (frank)ed as far as I'm concerned.

I won't say that I hope he dies or relapses, or something crazy, but I do hope he gets stuck in traffic on the way to his next playoff game.........with explosive diarrhea and violently sneezes.

I was trying to be diplomatic, but, yes. To all of it.

Your assumption is that rookie coaches suck, which seems to be based on Housley sucking.

Just because Housley sucked, doesn't mean Gronborg would.

- jcragcrumple

Gronberg coached a bunch of kids and yes they don't need a rookie coach, they had that already in Houlsey and now he's golfing with the Sabres.

I wanted Q, Q wanted FLA, If I have to choose with what is out there, Gronborg, Ruff, Crawford, etc.... I guess the I would go Gronborg over Ruff...But I would not mind Ruff at all. he has gone to the confernece fianls 3 times, SCF once and playoffs 8 times..

My 3 year old black lab could have coached those SJ teams to the playoffs, and probably achieved the same results

And he would look adorable in a little suit

Why bother firing Housley just to to bring in a rookie coach or an AHL coach? makes no sense, just keep Housley. I've read about those types of coaches being available but why bother with them? just let Houlsey continue to try and right the ship.
- SABRES 89

he was a terrible head coach...he had to be fired

It at least shows the stability in either 1) his coaching 2) the GM/orginizational structure or 3) a combination

If your black lab can do that, I'm all for it. I don't care either way who they hire, just get it right for a change.

I don't think the coach you're looking for is out there right now and I agree that a rookie head coach probably won't work either...

that's a tough situation to be in

Is this really a thing?

If it is, I am not sure how I feel about it.

Lindy is royalty in Buffalo (not sure why other than him being here forever)

He does have that no nonsense type approach (Torts like) and he clearly has passion.

If he can open up the game for the forwards and fix the defense then I am all for it. Actually I am all for whoever can do that as coach.

As it was said by another poster...JUST GET IT RIGHT

You keep saying that, but he was the Swedish men's hockey coach. He's not the coach of kids

Idk, i can't see past his beard. That man could coach in gorilla suit, and all people would say is, "that beard. He is a leader of men"
