It’s not a horse race but it takes a lot of horses just to make it into the post season.

Now do we have the core of horses? No
Are we getting closer? Bit by bit.
What holds us back? More talent
Our Achilles heal? Injuries & depth
Needs? Top 2 RHD & playmakers.

I think moving Hutton Pouliot Biega Schaller off the team we win at least 4 more games .

That is without signing a UFA or making one or two trades.

- VANTEL

I like all those. Movin means letting them go as they have no value. It’s going to be a team with growing pains that likely just misses the playoffs next year. No need to make trades yet imo unless it’s for someone you can’t get through the draft like a Trouba. UFA would be nice but the money needs to be right as Qh and Ep get paid at the same time.

Is back to back Calders possible?

Weve had two finalists in a row, suck it haters

A core good enough to make the playoffs. If you’re relying on overpaid UFA’s just to get to the playoffs then you’re not good enough

I agree other than if that UFA is a longterm help that helps us turn the corner. The difficulty is there one out there?

If Panarin fetches 10-11m is that an overpaid UFA? He had 87 pts in 79

QH and EP do get paid at the same time . If the Cap hit continues to climb 3 mil at a time that should help . Sven Pearson Sutter Tanev Stecher all come off the books that year.

So the top 4 is some combo of
Edler Stecher
Hughes Tanev

I like those two pairs, when they are healthy. Which is for 2/3 of the season. You put Gardiner in this mix and all of a sudden weve got some depth for once. What if Woo and/or Juolevi make the lineup? We dont need that much additional scoring from the d, 20 goals would go a long way.

I don't know . I honestly believe Hutton and Pouliot cost us close to 8 losses by themselves.

Canucks will be a better team next year. Like it or not they will be making moves. When the GM says multiple times we will be looking for a young top 4 RHD and a top 6 winger, then it will probably happen.

Yeah, a rarity like Tavares/Panarin is an exception to the rule.

Plus you can still sign solid role players like Roussel

Yes they both do my friend in 2021.

Supposing both get huge contracts...
They must be doing fantastic & would we not be a PO team before 2021?

Our hopes are on more than them & some we have need to up their game. Prospects need to reach potential. Future picks must be good & part of the core not role players.

Didn't Burke make the same mistake thinking his core was better than it was when he traded 2 firsts and a 2nd for Kessel?

Yeah but JB considered Pearson a top 6 guy and it only cost us Guddy so maybe take that with a grain of salt

If I remember correctly his first game he played you said "The Future is here" but I can't call him core. Got it.

If it does, weve got a real shot. But i dont know if i see us outplaying others to win a wc still. Very close. Amazing how much Hieskanen changed things for Dallas though, if QH is that good we’re going to be a lot better.

Im assuming Woo goes back to Junior then spends time in Utica before coming close to being a Canuck - so realistically 1.5-2 years away, if it all works out.

Juolevi should head back to Utica at the beginning of the year and find out where his knee/game is at - lots of ????? for him right now.

Most of those guys are worth resigning. Stecher was my MVP last year.

I am not predicting any playoff success. I am just saying the will be buzzing around the playoff make. They might make the playoffs , maybe they wont.

I can see the cap rising 3-5m yearly which gives us room adding our present cap to it affording many options. Presently we need many players shuffled out & should help our cap even more.

I would probably only think of re-signing Stecher . In two years I hope we are better than Sven Tanev Pearson Sutter

The sad thing about that is that's what he's has been doing Gudbranson, Loui, Vrbata, Gagner, Vanek..............

You can't sign or trade if your pro scouting sucks
