Trades are the easiest way to improve imo
Every team drafts & can develop or get lucky.
UFA’s are always overpriced & predicated on cap space & usually poor judgement.

that's not quite true , Khabibulin was a free agent signing that got them to there first final , only to lose , Ladd was a trade deadline acquisition , Brian Campbell was a FA signing, as was Huet and Turco , FRolik was a trade and so on and so on , it takes a lot of moves and picks to make a winning team, but doing nothing and just waiting and hoping your picks develop is not the way

It is one long season to make the PO’s & so much can go right or wrong. Deeper teams tend to overcome more than a team like ours can.

In the PO’s it’s all about compete & systems & where legit players show their worth. Other than riding a hot goalie it’s all hands on board or it’s sayonara baby.
