I, on the other hand, don't think the team is there yet (probably another 2-3 years) and I don't trust this management group re-acting to an over achieving season. I would rather be patient and stay the course. No high profile UFA signings (or really any) and no 'shortcut' trades that end being a step backwards. In the meantime, I'm really enjoying watching talented teams go balls to the wall against each other. Watching the playoffs makes me realize just how far the Canucks have to go.

The bolded part the big question mark.

It is going to take this years draft pick 3 years before they play a game and 6 years before they are a lead player. That will make Bo 6 years older.

What do we have down the pipe right now that is going to fill those three years and step in now and make a difference? They do not have any difference makers right now waiting to step into the NHL.

Amen.

Nucker is partially correct. “Rebuilding teams” 💯 make signings like Miller and Vrbata. Loui? No. The team thought they owed it to the sedins to make one more push (which was (frank)ed up) Personally I assign 99% of the blame on Aquilini as he was steering the ship

I'm willing to wait if it is done properly.

Using ASL's argument Oilers have been building for a decade with 4 top picks and multiple other high picks and they are no further ahead than us.

Teams like Carolina have been building forever through the draft and finally are playing in the playoffs.

Flyers have drafted strong and didn't make the playoffs

CBJ have their first playoff series win ever

WPG the king of patience may be booted out first round

TB the template for drafting swept.

It's a shame our owner isn't competent enough to build his hockey team.

3 visits to the finals under 3 owners, time for a forth owner but me calling for a new owner is like you calling for the Sedins to be traded.

Someone should tell you Vantel said to trade the twins 6 years ago.

Exactly my point, management has less patient than the non-casuals

All we can hope for is that Aquilini is learning. Not overly optimistic

I couldn't care less if you are calling for a new owner. It is your opinion . Doesn't bother me one bit.

What about trading #6 + more young assets for Subban

Or trying to trade for pending UFA Lucic?

I can't think of any but name one team that has won the cup building through the draft only?

Canucks tried to trade for Lucic when LA won the bidding war and he did okay for them. They walked away from him when he was a UFA

No one says never make trades or sign good UFA players, but that should be the next step once you have a good young nhl core that’s good enough to make the playoffs first

Nashville did not make or win the SCF and only started making the playoffs when getting Subban

Washington is a success story built from drafting

Name another one.

They tried for him when the NHL was still the big bad NHL . They obviously didn't go all in to get him or he would be a Canuck

yeah, it should be the ace in the hole to put you over the top - not get you to the dance. You wouldn't pop a cialis when you go out in hopes you find a partner, you only take it once you know you are in!

I will speak for myself ,but I would much rather watch my team in the playoffs ,even if they get their asses kicked ,over sitting here and planning and waiting for drafting and development to get us there in 6 more years.

Canucks are drafting their 5 th top 10 pick this year.

Christ even Pettersson said go find me a decent winger. You are the one that reported that.
