No chance, but the Canes do have an abundance of Defensemen at the NHL and in the system. A package of Faulk and maybe Roland McKeown who is stuck in the AHL logjam but has outstanding numbers, might have some interest to JR. I love Aho and don't think he has reached his ceiling but Malkin would be an upgrade at 1C for the Canes. As per Hockeybuzz custom I will probably get slammed for the suggestion but it is fun to speculate and the Penguins do need to upgrade their defense.

I don't think Justin Faulk would upgrade anybody's defense

if this is true, can see Florida being very interested - join Panarin and Bobrovsky. Florida has lots of high end prospects to add to the table.

Free up cap space - Luongo retires, trade off Reimer or buy him out, Maybe someone like Trocheck or Hoffman goes back in a package.

Malkins cap hit is 9.5 but for only 3 more years.

I’m not really sure what the panthers cap situation is. Otherwise I’d say the panthers have to take Johnson, Hornqvist as well and the panthers would add Hoffman

well d'uh, problem is I don't see the Panthers giving you 2 first round pick in addition to a center that is only 25 and had 75 pts last year
