Yeah, most people don't have basic politics understanding of how left and right works. Especially here in Quebec since most of the meaningful info you can find is in English and almost all mainstream media here is very far left. They often label people who are left-wing nationalists "alt-right" because they don't get that left and right should be the degree of intervention you want the government to have in your life.
