If GMJR hadn’t mangled this roster I wouldn’t be for it but there’s some serious shît that needs fixed. |

Where's the best place to find the free agent roster for this summer?

I agree some tearing down needs to happen, but moving a young starting goalie?
Sign someone? Who’s available? Unless you’re suggesting a full-out rebuild |

I’d want someone back from the trade. I’d see if there’s a swap to be made with Murray and a well rounded top 4 defenseman with some speed, but I highly doubt JR does that. |

Your mistake is looking at recognizable goalies rather than trying to find value. |

I really dont have the time anymore more to know every player in the league. Its a struggle just to watch the Pens when I can a dozen times a year. |

Petr Mrazek signed a one year deal for $1.5.
God only knows if he can maintain it, but he's been real good. |

To me, unless Murray is looking for like $7M+ there's no way you let him go.
Who could the Pens possibly get back in trade that wouldn't be a lateral move at best? Quality starting goalies aren't coming any cheaper than $5M. |

And that’s exactly who id look at. It’s be a gamble on Mrazek, but if he doesn’t re-up with you guys, I’d trade Murray for a top 4 defenseman and give Mrazek a deal similar to what Murray has now and if Mrazak pans out, the those moves improve the team overall. |

FYI, I just read you guys will be without Ferland as well as Svechnikov. That's rough. I'm really pulling for you guys this series. |

Don't hate me for this, but I don't think I've seen you this irrational. lol
First off, before the Pens go after any top four dman, we have at least two that would need to be taken off this roster which is way easier said than done.
Second, if we want this team to be competitive, the Pens need a true starting goalie. A major theme has been these gambles or "fresh start" players. This window is realistically only there for another two years probably, so they need to as many proven players at this point as possible. |

Having a good blue line that fits the system is infinitely more important than the gap between a really good goalie and a goalie that provides above average tending. |

Yeah, but how are they going to re-shape this blueline which would need to NOT include Johnson? |

Maatta’s gone anyways and Schultz is only under contract for one. Just get over yourself and scratch Johnson for a year. Solves the first issue.
Second issue, see my other post. |

Well if we’re not going to do a defensive overhaul then none of this matters. We can’t improve anywhere but the blue line. If Sully and JR think we’re fine as is then the window’s already been shut for a year |

Svech will be fine. He's out on the ice by himself this morning, but seems to be okay by all accounts. Holding him out for precautionary reasons.
Ferland is a bit rough, but it is what it is.
They'll put Saku Maenalanen and Patrick Brown in. Wouldn't be my choices, but oh well.
As long as the Caps keep leaving Carlson on his off side I think we're okay. They have a really tough time dealing with Carolina's forecheck and making Carlson play on his backhand where he's way weaker isn't helping, especially as the Canes have been targetting his D partner (Jensen got hit 9 times last game). |

I just don't think any of this is realistic. It's great to think of moving players, but the returns have to be available. But hey, what would I do?
Maatta is gone, and I know we are both not happy about that, but it is what is is. If Maatta is gone and they can get rid of Johnson, great.
I would use Maatta, Hornqvist and Rust to try and get the replacements they NEED and basically keep everything else in-tact.
Also, I just read Cullen may not be retiring, so now we have the poop to think about lol |

This is what I've been saying the past few days and this is what will answer all our questions once we know. If they think Johnson is a good player they should hold on to while moving the likes of Maatta and Kessel? Then there's no hope they are going to build the team they should. |

I don’t think it’s realistic either, I’m just laying out the best course of action. What I think will happen is that Maatta will be moved for a top 9 forward to “replace” Kessel who they’ll move for the next Jarred McCann type young player that JR is infatuated with and call it a day. There’ll be a big press offensive to bill it as moves that have finally given the team the identity Rutherford has been looking for. We’ll limp into the playoffs as a second wild card and be a first round exit. |

This would be my base to build off of...
Jake-Sid-????
????-Geno-Kessel
McCann-Bjugstad-????
Simon-Bleuger-????
Dumo/Letang
????/Schultz
Pettersson/Gudbranson (I like these guys, but not locked into them)
Murray/DeSmith
Take whatever parts are not there and use them to get their younger Kunitz', Hagelins, etc...
