The funniest part of that deal, for me, was that they got everything agreed upon and then at the last minute McPhee told Dorion that he wasn't pulling the trigger unless Stone agreed to an extension. This was on deadline day

McPhee is definitely changing his rep down there. He was up there with Chia

I think they will be alright. Really the only impact forwards that are up there in age right now are Patches and Stastny

What I'm wondering about most now is what is going to happen with Gusev. He's burning his the only year of his ELC if he plays this year and will be an arb-eligible RFA. I'm willing to bet he's not going to stick around North America to collect a meager paycheck that most RFA's might get.

I'm sure the Broadway Redshirts will be all over him.

You really think he will go back to the KHL? I guess its a risk with any Russian player really.

Can’t believe Tampa got swept, our connection to their 1st round pick had a hand in it, I have no doubt

Gotta hand it to torts...guys a great coach
- rangerdanger94

Love the guy too, but, when he was w/Rangers he rolled 3 lines all the time, sometimes less, and that was a huge mistake. never works...

It's not even so much the "Russian Factor" I'm citing. But would you move across the world to take a millions-of-dollars pay cut? I sure wouldn't.

They somehow have a guy they signed out of college that has a 6 mil cap hit. I'm sure it has to do with some funny accounting, but it caught my attention.

I would give Gusev a look here, though you wonder if we did get him if we would then wait a year for Fox.

Nah. The Rangers stink would have been Tampa losing in 3 OT of game 7 of the final after blowing a 3 goal lead in the last 10 minutes of regulation.

Goes to show how the rangers were never that great and most of it was hank in his prime carrying those teams.

If he wasn’t perfect they would lose and he got the blame

Yeah I noticed that too, that's odd but my guess is that it has something to do with his age and maybe prorating the deal. That's odd though, I'm not sure I've ever seen something like that before.

I picked them to win the cup when the playoffs started, still hoping it happens. I love that team, they just don't stop coming at you.

Columbus could surprise a lot of people. They had 3 regular d-men out, so the rest could help them more than you think.

- TheMessiah94

Yes they are fun to watch but I hate that they haven't paid their hockey dues. Expansion teams need to lose for 5 years before they win imho.

edit - I thought you meant Vegas my bad.

Disagree. Best thing that could happen at least for an expansion team and the NHL is have success right off the bat to grow a good fan base for a foundation that will hopefully stay around when eventually the bad times come

I agree 100% but there is a little part of me that finds it incredibly annoying that they just step into the league and are really, really good.

So I guess I agree like 99%

Is hockey even popular out there? I thought it sounded strange when they decided on Seattle. Can't say I know much about that area though.

I think it would bother me a little if they were in the Metro. I actually thought they were such a fun team to watch last year, minus the pre-game
