Jesus H christ.
Its 2019, Im sure MLSE can use some more recent music no?
Arkells, USS, Death from above, Glorious Sons (kingston..whatever)....Im sure there are plenty to choose from.

- Fakepartofme

Damn! You've got good taste!

Arkells would be perfect. Either Knocking at the door, or Relentless would set the mood imo. The others are all good options too though.

My brother lived right around there before he got divorced. My niece and nephew still do. He used to own Mt Pleasant Vet Hospital.

Now he co-owns it with his ex wife?

Mostly cuz they don't eat much solid food.

My kid is on solid food, and it's still like a mini nuclear bomb.

What's with the peanuts?
- hscesq

Free salty snacks makes you thirsty.

And the peanut shells act just like the sawdust on the floor at McSorley's NY. Helps keep down the dirt and grime when you sweep up.

Although in this day and age of peanut allergies, its baffles my mind how a family restaurant would have peanut shells lying around.

really? That's a shame. I mean, there aren't many neighbourhoods with enough demand for gelato to have two gelato stores right across the street, so the choice of location was not optimal.

but they did make better gelato. Some of the people in there didn't even speak english, so I assumed they imported some authentic italians to make gelato.

or maybe I just don't like the smell of poop. Except when it's my own. Then it's a bit of a pride thing.

Rent/Lease prices are sterilizing large swaths of Toronto. If you don't have several locations that can subsidize the rent in Toronto, it's a tough go for almost any small/med business.

There's also a Gelato store on Mount Pleasant (much more "traditional"), and of course Baskin Robbins at Millwood and Bayview.

As you know, the rents are so franking high on Bayview that if you don't succeed in the first few months, you are dead in the water.

There's a new sports bar on Bayview - Two Dogs. I've never seen more than 3 people in it. It's a franking sports bar with maybe 3 TVs. If it's still there on Labour Day, I'll eat the cat poop from all of RJ's 12 cats.

Not to be bleak here, but I lost my father when my brother was 14 and my sister was 17. Talk about a poopty age to begin with then compound it with that

I was 11 and witnessed the poop they did and never really pushed my limits at that age as a result.

- RickJames77

that's tough to deal with...

Sorry for your loss.

The closest gelato place to me is 180km away.

Every third storefront in my neighbourhood is now a place to get your nails done.

How much do women pay to get their nails done? How could there possibly be enough demand?

I'm so glad I'm a guy, and I don't have to worry about this crap.

Man there was that one shift where they tried making a 3 foot pass like dozen times to attempt a breakout and turned the puck over just as many times.

At some point you just gotta flick it out to centre.

Where on Bayview? There are so many places that have come and gone. that French restaurant just north of the RBC. There was a roadhouse bar a little north of there on the west side, that had an upstairs and all. It was actually pretty good food and atmosphere.

And yet, not one place will ever stand a shot at competing with McSorely's and Originals.
