Still though. You shouldn’t give up a #16 overall pick and Sean Kuraly for a relatively unproven commodity. He hadn’t been a starter at that point. - RickJames77
No, but you also have to take a risk. Nobody is trading you a starting goalie unless you have too many, and he had a 0.923 over his career at that point. The only downside is that that was just over 34 games, so more sample would have been better. That said, he was still a career 0.916 guy until this year which isn't too awful. |

Leafs have advantage in top 6.
I think it's a wash for 3rd line.
Columbus 4th line is dangerous.
Their top pairing is amazing.
I don't know what happened to their rest of the D but bottom two pairings don't look great on paper.
They have a slight advantage in goaltending if you look at the regular season over the last few seasons I think. Playoff hockey is unknown territory for him though. - TheMussel
the only team left in the East that I think the Leafs might not beat if they're playing their best hockey is Washington. And then it's 50/50.
And that includes Boston. If they play well, they're not going to lose 3 of the next 4.
So all that leaves is ACTUALLY playing well. |

Man, the Sharks really could do some damage if only they could get a (frank)ing save. I mean, we complain about Sparks here and his .902 Sv% is obviously sub par, but Martin Jones had a .896 over 62 (frank)ing games in the regular season
(Honourable shout-out also to Quick, Luongo, Talbot, Smith and Ward who also all had sub-0.900 Sv% ) - lumlums
Man, there's been some incredibly good goaltending in these playoffs and some incredibly bad goaltending.
Mike Smith has been surprisingly good. Freddy and Lehner have been great. Hellebyuck has been both . And Jones and Murray have been complete garbage. |

San Jose is one of those "Good Teams" that can't get over the hump. At some point they'll need to rebuild. There's some aging players on that team. The Karlsson experiment did not work great thus far. - RogerRoeper
The above worries me about the leafs if they do not beat boston this year.
Minus the rebuild stuff. |

He sucks in his own zone. Always has. He's a beast with the puck, but without it he's like an actual deer on ice. |

Bob and Panarin win the Cup. Go to Florida for big bucks. It was all planned my dude! - AdamFrench
Only reason I wouldn't hate them winning would be because it might give more teams the balls to do what they did at the deadline, making deadlines to come more exciting. |

Karlsson hasn't been the same since that surgery. Not sure he'll get offered 7 years as UFA. - RogerRoeper
He will because hockey men are dumb. He won't get quite the same bidding war though... |

I think the Leafs have better "Elite" talent that are very young and a better goalie than San Jose has ever had. |

i don’t know that that’s always the case though. Generally I agree with you, but Freddie still had a great game 2 even though he let in 4 goals. - RickJames77
For sure it’s not always the case, but if can limit the grade a chances and clear rebounds it certainly will help the ole tender |

Honestly, he looks like he's having major mobility issues out there. Before he was able to pivot and turn so quickly and gracefully, and now it looks like a chore for him. This season could literally have cost him many millions of dollars. - lumlums
Also, he just flat out has no clue what to do in his own end and the media people are finally calling him out on it. Double whammy. |
