I think you will be insanely disappointed at what teams would offer for Malkin and Letang.
I think there is a decent chance Kessel gets traded. Not because it makes sense, but just because someone has to go just for the hell of it.
Teams are shifting to younger cores, paying them more, and focusing more on them than ever before. Isnt as much room for the has-beens of the NHL. - SuperHenderson13
So you're saying trade Crosby? |

Shocking series.
The Penguins have been incredible for the last decade and been fun to watch, but they're now on the downturn with other formerly great teams like the Hawks and Kings. It happens. With the league going in the direction it is, the best thing PIT could do now is dismantle their aging core and reload instead of holding onto this group and trying for one more run
Sid and Letang still have a couple good years left, but beyond them guys like Kessel, Hornqvist and maybe even Malkin gotta go. |

Oh yeah, they're adult brownies haha. Have chocolate chip cookies too. I usually just give most of them away to family and friends. |

Everyone and everything, including Ron Burkle & PPG Paints Arena, should be traded before the locals arrive at the arena with torches and pitchforks. |

There's a bit of irony here. JR tried make this team tougher and more physical only to lose to a team built on speed and tenacity. |

and now its also moot. that toughness and physicality was aimed at countering a single player on the caps roster. |

We can’t even go into the offseason feeling optimistic for the 19-20 season because JR dug the Pens into a hole. Might as well package the 1st round pick with whoever will take Johnson and gudbransson. Maybe maatta has some sliver of value left. Maybe a team will want Hornqvist because of his “grit” |

I think it’s time to draft some young guys that can skate and play but also aren’t a wet paper bag as soon as physicality starts. The run of the Pittsburgh weenies is over. |

I don't think it's an overreaction to suggest stripping the team down and changing the mix.
Crosby, letang, Guentzel, Dumo and Murray are your core. I'm keeping Horny, Gud and McCann also.
I'd move Malkin to Florida and have JJ ride along with him. They can eat some cap space. Kessel to Minny. Maata to MTL or ARI. Bjugstad is good but I'd still listen.
Sign Duchene. Get some youth and speed back in the lineup. Try something new. The current mix is not going to get it done. |

Pretty sure Kuhnhackl would be the perfect compliment to Sid and Lazy Jake too. Sucks how guys get type casted, he sure was making life easier for Brock Nelsonall series. Hopefully Sully gets over himself and Garret Wilsongets a bigger role or better teammates to play with. |

I know it's a cardinal sin to mention trading Geno or Kessel around here but I will say this.
Malkin was completely checked out the whole season. Put up some points and had some flashes but didn't really seem into it at all. He was awful in this series.
Kessel was always meant to be a few year rental. Time is up. He has been really successful on a 3rd line with two linemates who can do the dirty work but he is losing a step and the islanders just proved that all you have to do is force him to his backhand and he is useless.
Get as much as you can for them and then figure out what kind of team you want to be moving forward. This team had no identity because its star player is refused to play within a system and all just free wheel. |

I was thinking that too. He would have been a massive improvement for the Pens over Wilson and ZAR. It was odd they just let him walk after playing a solid role for them in two cups. |

I must admit, this free agency does have the potential to have some solid names which could add a different dimension to this team. Duchene leading my list of players I would love to add. I think we need to upgrade our defense and get faster up front. I think Hagelin signs with us which will help a little. I think Karlsson would also be at the top of my list of potential players to go after. I think Horny, Kessel, and Maatta get traded. I also could see Gudbranson, Jarry, and even Johnson if the rumors are true if Management and Coaching all sitting down and discussing the direction the team should go in. I could realistically see Penguins signing one top FA and going after someone like Ferland.
