Joe, Gordon is not an up and coming coach. He's been coaching Hockey since the mid 90's. Carter Hart had more to do with the Flyers looking competitive than Gordon did. That being said, he did a solid job. The Flyers made the right choice in choosing Vigneualt over Gordon. - MJL

The point was it was addition by subtraction the same may be the case with the Flyers and voracek.
Keep on licking Hexys boots. - DrMidnite
You actually made a bad point because it seems you're implying that the Isles got better because they lost Taveras. They got better for a lot of reasons mainly being the buy in from the players that Trotz was able to get and how well as a team that they improved their goals against. You're also not considering that the same thing could've happened if Taveras had stayed and that they would be a better team for it. They have an issue with scoring.
The Hextall comment is just asinine.

Dood he was falling apart for a while and in his late 30’s. Just stahp.
You sign franchise guys to franchise contracts. No supporting cast guys.
Franchise guys are guys that go out and win games and impose their will on the competition. Not rack up nice numbers with nothing to show for it....
Giroux is a Alexander Semin that puts up a lot of assists. His game is soft as yogurt. Nobody is scared to play against him. Samething with voracek. Those two seriously are the Flyers’ version of Abreu and Lieberthal swear to Carlin’s ghost. - JoeRussomanno
haha, that was just a big waste of time to read. no facts, pure opinion, and bad spelling. i would call that a trifecta but im not so sure you'd know what it would refer to |

Wait a minute... you’re gonna marginalize what gordon did by saying the rookie goalie carried him but ignore the fact Vigneault couldn’t get two teams over the top with hof goalies? |

Got them to game 7 of a SCF and the goalie imploded? Yea he didn't do his job, he sucks and that Rangers team was wayy better than that Kings team, and the Kings goalie sucked too Take a hike bud |

exactly so why even use that when talking about what AV has and hasn't done. If 98% of the coaches haven't done the same thing AV hasn't, its borderline stupid to bring it up. its like saying, yeah, but AV has never gone 82-0 in a season. well, no one has done it so whats the point |

Wait a minute, you're going to marginalize that Vigneualt has coached 3 teams to 50+ win seasons, coached 8 teams to 100 point seasons, won the Jack Adams award for coach of the year, and coached two teams to the Cup finals versus what Gordon did as an interim coach? You haven't been around for a while Joe, but with this and the Giroux comments, you're embarrassing yourself.

But it didn't did It?
You don't know how the team plays better together or if they are more conscious of defensive responsibilities without their 'best' player.
But it didn't fit your "this team needs Jake, or there's a hole...."

Ok and you can’t apply that to what gordon did? Took a bottom feeding team with no playoff hope into a playoff hunt with a rookie goalie? - JoeRussomanno
You know what, Lavy did it when Stevens was fired. Berube did it when Lavy was fired, and Gordon almost did it when Hak is fired. and what's funny, Gordon was the only one of the 3 to actually not make the playoffs. sit down dumbass |

It was my opinion this team was headed for mediocrity a while back and guys like you who worship at the church of stats and analytics said the same crap. Again it’s sports not rocket science.... just watch the games for a change. |

thats your opinion, thats fine. My opinion is that it doesn't fall all on Giroux's shoulders, his contract, or anything relating to him. His contract number is a fair one, and he has performed under his contract to the tune of being third in points over the last decade. i agree there were some things that went wrong over the last several years, but G was not one of them. |
